World’s poorest hit hard as climate-related disasters put food security, jobs at risk: UN
Globe & Mail ^ | Nov. 26, 2015 | Eric Reguly

Natural disasters triggered by climate change are increasing in frequency and hitting farmers in the developing world especially hard, threatening food security and employment in the poorest regions, the United Nations said in a new report.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report, called Impact of Disasters on Agriculture and Food Security, was released Thursday, four days before the official start of the Paris climate-change conference, where the developing world will seek hundreds of billions of dollars in funding from wealthy countries to adapt to, and overcome losses from, potentially catastrophic climate change.

Concerns that climate-related losses could rise were reinforced on Wednesday, when the World Meteorological Organization reported that 2015 is on course to be the hottest year on record, and the years from 2011 to 2015 the warmest five-year period on record.

They ought to name “climate change” to George W. Bush and get it over with. After all isn’t climate change responsible for every malady known to man?

A while ago someone correlated the stock market to womens’ hem heights.
That someone should do the same with ‘climate change’ and ‘poverty’ figures.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Enough is enough. It is past time to withdraw from the UN and make them move out of our country.

Actually, the poorest are always hardest hit by all disasters. Yes, droughts, floods, the advance of glaciers, hurricanes, and the like are always harder on those without means. What is as you eloquently put it “horseshit” is the belief that these disasters are man-made and that increased state control of energy production and usage will somehow prevent them in the future.

Actually, higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere make agriculture more efficient: plants grow faster, produce more, and are more resistant to drought. Warmer temperatures in Northern regions — where the greatest warming, if it occurs at all, is predicted will be extremely beneficial by extending growing seasons and allowing agriculture zones to spread into areas previously too cold to farm. On a cost benefit basis, a few degrees of warming — again, if it occurs at all, which is highly uncertain — will be a great benefit to mankind overall, as previous warm periods have been. There is no basis to conclude that the climate of 1950 was the “perfect” climate which should be maintained without change for all time. A cooling world would be a much greater calamity for mankind, again as it has been in the past.

PS: And there is no actual evidence to date that the much predicted increase in number and severity of extreme weather due to a warmer world is in fact occurring. The US has not been hit by a major hurricane for years and increases in tornadic activity are attributable entirely to better data capture not an actual increase in the activity.

The world’s poorest live under totalitarian socialist or communist governments that deprive them not only of liberty, but the opportunity to make their lives better. The U.S. became the world’s richest nation because of our system of government allowed the individual liberty and the ability to better themselves. Sadly our government is now bent on killing our liberty and taking away all initiative. Liberals want to turn most of the country into serfs living on government doles with elites running every aspect of their lives.

The climate changes? Wow! That’s big news.

After billions of years remaining completely static too.

I’m fortunate to live near one of the less than twenty places in our state that sells ethanol free gas.

Our chainsaws and other various small engines really appreciate it.
