Studies suggest consensus among scientists is as high as 97 percent.
In the face of warmer air and ocean temperatures, rising sea levels, stronger storms and an increased risk of drought, fire and flood, scientists agree -- quite overwhelmingly -- that climate change is very real.
In fact, studies suggest that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists believe climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities.
Yet it's not hard to find yourself in a spirited back-and-forth with the so-called "deniers" -- those who continue to reject mainstream climate science.

If someone would pay me millions of dollars to appear in public and say that dog crap tastes like candy, I would appear in public and say that dog crap tastes like candy.
It’s no different than doing what these so-called scientists are doing.
If they're using the Cook et al study to justify the 97%, that has been comprehensively debunked. Not 97%
“Studies suggest...studies suggest..” I interpret that as “there is no proof...there is no proof”.

There is a John Waters movie called Pink Flamingos that delves into that very subject.
Last I remember, there was not a step in the scientific method for consensus.
The facts are, the 97% number is bogus.
There has not been any global warming for the past 18 years.
NASA has artificially altered the raw data to show a warming trend.
All of the models are broken and thus have failed the scientific method.
I did once. Behind their eyes, I saw the hamster fall off the wheel and land on his face.
Iask them if they know what a Trace Gas is. What % of the atmosphere is CO2 (I’ve gotten some really bizarre numbers with that question!) Ask them what % of the CO2 is man made? Don’t give them answers. Make them do their own research.
If they look at graphs, point out what the scale is. “It’s not in degrees Lulu! It’s in hundredths of a degree! The big jump in the red line is 0ne one hundredth of a degree, not ten degrees Lulu!”
