He'll fit in well at Blacksburg or Austin. Should have taken the Michigan job 3 years ago.

Les called a team meeting today, then gave a press conference. He gathered two networks to the campus, just to hear him say, “I’m STAYING”.

Florida State's Jimbo Fisher is their top target, but they are also reportedly interested in Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, TCU coach Gary Patterson and even former NFL coach Jon Gruden.

Those three coaches now face much easier competition than the SEC west. Will Fisher or Swinney really want to leave jobs where they typically have one major test each year, against each other? Patterson probably faces more good teams each year, but still the SEC west has been generally agreed to be the toughest division in the nation considering the teams that must be played every year.

It might be difficult to improve over what Miles has done there. He's had outstanding talent year-after-year, but shaky quarterbacking has been a problem most year of his years at LSU.

Agree it will be hard to top what Miles has done, but is there a more irrational and entitle group than college football fans?

Jimbo has a well built reputation for developing QBs. He is the primary target of LSU boosters, question is, why leave what he has (re)built at FSU go to a fan base that will run him out of town for putting together a record like Miles has...

He’s won, what, like 80% of his games at LSU and has delivered two national championships? Yeah, what a loser.

I get that the alumni and donors want all-winning, all the time, but good gosh. Other coaches would do well to avoid that fickle mess.

They should get rid of him. They should listen to the malcontents and to the wisdom of the disgruntled administration. Even if you have a Hall of Fame and National Championship coach like Tennessee had with Philip Fulmer, getting rid of such a person will usually result in a much better record and more championships, just like what has happened in the post-Fulmer years at Tennessee.

Oh, wait...

*** just like what has happened in the post-Fulmer years at Tennessee.***

Thanks for reminding me of that. I’ll have sweet dreams tonight for sure.

Back on topic, I think their idiots to get rid of Les. He’s a winning coach. In this day and age Alabama would have run off Bear Bryant. Plus who else but someone who eats grass off the field and believes it makes him one with the field during games could coach LSU. He’s perfect for LSU and he’s a winner. What more can they want?

Les was never offered the Michigan job. Word is he isnt exactly welcomed in A2. Rumor has it that there is a lingering spat between him and lloyd carr.

I agree with you - this is a big mistake. The odds say you will do worse or much worse and there are extremely few instant winners out there. I am a Vol fan and I know this firsthand. Fans are fickle and expectations are championship or bust, but there can only be one SECw representative, one SEC champion, and one national champion. Statistically Miles has an exceptional record.

LSU is going to find out that changing jockeys won’t change the horse and they will probably end up far worse than they are now.

It was only 1.

Should have been 2 but Alabama got a second bite at the apple and kicked our asses.

Miles has a young team. He’s a nice guy. He should have fired the special teams coach. He can’t find a quarterback year after year.

I’d be okay replacing him with Jimbo Fisher. But there aren’t a lot of great coaches out there. Miles is just in the shadow of Saban. Always has been and always will be.

We expect that LSU beat it's rival Alabama and compete for the SEC title.

He has lost to Ala. 5 times in a row.

Even when LSU wins their games are unwatchable they are so poorly played.

He won only one national championship and was embarrassed by Ala. in the second.

As a Gator fan, I’d love to see The Mad Hatter go. He almost always tricks us into a loss! Will be a big mistake if they let him go.

I think Les Miles may seriously consider retirement from coaching—his coaching style is totally out of step with the way they play college football currently.
