DUTERTE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT !
Inqirer.net (Philippine) ^ | November 22, 2015

Posted on 11/22/2015 5:34:38 AM PST by knarf

A man who. not too long ago was happy to remain Mayor, has decided to run for the presidency and I have a theory about that ...

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: china; duturte; elections; philippines; prc
Eduardo Duterte is the Mayor of Davao City, probably the safest city in the world, espcially for foreigners.

His Wicki page is VERY revealing and, as the husband of a Filipina and a FReeper, I am interested in the Philippine political scene

I recommend you read his wicki bio because you will discover a seriously law and order man that takes no BS from anyone

For instance'

"In 2009 Duterte said: "If you are doing an illegal activity in my city, if you are a criminal or part of a syndicate that preys on the innocent people of the city, for as long as I am the mayor, you are a legitimate target of assassination."[19]

Duterte responding to the reported arrest and subsequent release of a notorious drug lord in Manila is quoted as saying: "Here in Davao, you can't go out alive. You can go out, but inside a coffin. Is that what you call extra-judicial killing? Then I will just bring a drug lord to a judge and kill him there, that will no longer be extra-judicial."

The reason I am posting this is because Duterte has been pressured in the news the last year or so to run for President.

(The Philippines pattern their politics after the USA and THEIR elections mirror ours ... primary in May, election in November)

Duterte is 70 years old (I think) and he has adamantly refused to run for the presidency citing his pleasure and comfort being the Mayor of a city with a population of a million and a half

OK ... that's the basic set-up

Obama just left the Philippines and as has been reported here ... not enough in my opinion ... he used an opportunity to speak with President Noy Noy Aquino at a Q&A presser, to ridicle and berate American politicians under the guise of the TTP conference / APEC summit

Obama towards the end went off on us and President Aqiuno allowed him and ... after the end of Obama's tirade, he apologized and (in my opinion), Aquino mildly said (almost with a smile) that's OK

Obama has, since The muslim attack on Paris, been running around on a tour to (again in my opinion) attempt to legitimize himself as a world leader which he fails miserably doing

SO ...

With a tough, I-don't-give-a-crap Donald Trump looming largely on the American scene, an equally tough I-don't-give-a-crap Eduardo Duterte has decided the world could benefit from from some for real, in your face political leaders

China is inventing an island in the China Sea and is threatening the sovereignty of the tiny Philippines and IF war is on the horizon, The Philippines would be a VERY welcome ally and staging area

I see a year of very serious political activity before us

PS ... I discovered Duterte about two years ago and the more I saw of him, the more I wish he was an American politician

Obama is less than disrespected around the world ... he's being set up

To all Filipinos, be careful what you wish for... the man uses something akin to VIGILANTE JUSTICES to kill criminals.

People might like him because they remind themselves of Dirty Harry, but this will create a very bad precedent.

You have been warned.

This Duterte sounds like my kind of politician!
Tell him we could use a good governor here in VA if he would like to relocate.

Seriously though.
The world is reaping the fruit of the seeds of destruction sown by our pet Kenyan.

Haven’t the Philippines had their own muzlim problem? I thought I had read a couple of the islands were thick with muzzies.

The Chinese are really muddying the waters with their man made islands.
If they keep it up there are going to be serious security problems in that part of the world.

Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam and even India need to keep a very close eye on China.
I believe I read somewhere that Vietnam has approached Japan about an alliance concerning the Chinese muscle flexing. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

We are living the Chinese curse. The one that goes May you live in interesting times.

This guy is part of the pro China faction in the Phil. Read up on his statements about the U.S. The US China dispute is going to spill over into the Phil big time.

He also has secessionist tendencies being a local strongman.

He is very bad news.

Nice to know.
I will definitely check him out.
Thank you for the information.

China’s moves are going to be a headache for the world.
If China woke up in a bad mood and cut trade off with us we would be in a world of hurt.
Just go to the store and try to find something *not* made in China.

If China can intimidate Japan, the Philippines Vietnam and India they can dominate trade worldwide.
Where do the first world nations get their cheap stuff?
China and the developing nations.

Scary times.

His tactics are harsh, but not for power, but to clean up corruption

I have been in Manila for a few days. I had to go to this Internet cafe in the hotel. It has chrome. The first time I have ever used chrome. I am not at all familiar with it. I didn’t even know how to return to a previous page. I had to ask someone. I kind of hope Duterte stays in Davao City, but we shall see.

Appreciate your reply

Your better half doesn't like Manila

Noy Noy doesn't know how to respond to Duterte and my theory standsTHAT was an historic period in the history of mankind just as we live IN extraordinary historical times right now.

I guess she likes it ok. She is sitting next to me on another computer. Face book of course. I don't do facebook or twitter. The traffic is really bad.
