Who would you follow into battle?

I think debating is one thing... but doing and leading is another. The two are different as night and day.

Someone can have a great debate, e.g. Td Cruz always debates well, he's about as professional as it gets at it, but does he possess the trait that leaders have, i.e. that people will instinctively follow them? We hear that Jeb Bush did well last night, but will it change his persona of someone who might have the math down, but doesn't have the instincts when the going gets tough?

I bet the people at Apple would follow Steve Jobs in whatever direction he wished to take his company when he was alive and running it. We saw the trait in Reagan. WWII had its Patton and Churchill.

They can debate all they want, but I think it comes down to the doing.

So, let me ask all of you something, which is in my opinion the most imnportant question. You're in a fox hole. Which one of these candidates would you follow out of the fox hole to attack the enemy?

These are my answers.

Jeb? No. I doubt if he'd be up in the front leading very long, esp after the first defeat. Remember, George Washington was beat several times before he eventually won a great battle. I don't see any Georg Washington in Jeb.

Rubio? Maybe someday, but not now. I think Rubio, quite frankly is still an apprentice, but a good one.

Ted Cruz? Possibly, yes. I think he has the characteristics of someone who will fight to the finish. But his time, is not now.

Carson? Sorry, no. I'd be afraid he didn't read his compass right, and might be looking at too many options before committing. I don't see Carson, like Julius Ceasar burning his bridges to attack the enemy. He'd be great in the rear over seeing our MASH units.

Carli? I think she has leadership qualities, but I fear she might be getting into a battle we shouldn't be in. I see her as a good lieutenant.

Trump. Definitely yes. I think Trump, would be careful in the assault, and like Patton have the best trained army and advisors at hand. He's the Custer on the stand, more than anyone.

Rand Paul? Nope.

Christie? A good sergeant type, but not the general.

In short, Good People, we have tough tough times ahead. I think they can hold these debates until the cows and pigs come home in Iowa, but I think most Americans know, only one person has the ability to take us through this. And for now, that person is Donald Trump.

I know nothing of what you speak. You'll have to fill in the details. As applied to Gitmo Detainies, I have no problem with it.

Whom.

Obama? Hillary? John Kerry? Harry Reid? Nancy Pelosi? Bill Clinton?

Donald Trump? Ted Cruz? George W. Bush?

Put Odumbo on point, and Harry Reid after Odumbo, and I’d “follow” them, for a few moments.

I don’t agree with Cruz on TPP. I’m not in favor of free trade to the point of stupidity. But you want to reject him for one vote out of all his votes? Every single other vote has been conservative.

Who else are you going to vote for? Trump? They guy was has been a liberal all his life until just recently? Who is probably feeding all of us a line?

None of them. Hard to believe in a country of 300 million people you can’t put together a candidate with military service when young, business accomplishment in middle age— while they’re raising a family they should earn some big bucks because politicians who need money will really really screw you, just ask Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio— and then elected office somewhere north of the age of 55.

Blowing smoke on live tv is nowhere near what the next president will need to do. Debates are ridiculous. We need a game show, one that has a presidential simulator, where candidates sit behind a desk, get scenarios fired at them and they have to respond in real time.

What a great analogy. Yes, I’d follow Trump. I’d figure he was in the fight to win, would never give up and maybe had an ace up his sleeve to keep us from getting killed.

Well, I don’t know that I’d use Custer as an example.

You’re still trying to sell your one trick pony on this anti-trump rant. Why then did this lady do what she did if it wasn’t to provoke?

A true leader has the best of the best on his/her team and therefore becomes the kind of leader others want to and WILL follow! I also believe Donald Trump is such a leader.

I want to share my dear friend Beverly Perlson’s note I received this morning. Bev, like us all, prays daily for our Veterans and especially those presently serving. We pray that in 2016 our Veterans will have a Commander In Chief who honors and supports them. And like Bev states in her note below, it certainly isn't Hillary Clinton!

So the bottom line is, no matter WHO wins the Republican Nomination we must support them!

*************
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MddBaqYxY4

I am so very grateful to all the brave Americans who have served and are serving now to keep us safe and free. M heart aches for the families whose loved ones gave their lives to protect our precious way of life, and our family is deeply grateful.

There are so many ways Americans can show gratitude to those who have made enormous sacrifice on our behalf and today, this November 11th, 2015, we can all make one promise that will honor our military serving now, and all our Veterans!

On Veteran's Day next year, November 11, 2016, our Presidential election will be over and sitting in our White House will be a newly elected President of these Great United States. Please, I beg each and everyone of you who loves this country and who truly wants to honor our Veterans and Brave Heroes serving now, please do everything in your power to ensure that Hillary Clinton is NOT that person sitting in our White House! Our brave men and women of our military deserve a Commander-in-Chief who would NEVER go to bed and leave them fighting for their lives on a rooftop in some hell hole far from home!!!!!!!! And that is exactly what Hillary Clinton did to our brave Sons in Benghazi! There is a special place in hell for Hillary Clinton (and Obama) and the last place she belongs is in our White House.

Our Troops have suffered enough under the little boy in our White House who has no regard for the lives of our Sons and Daughters! Please make a commitment to them today to hold their precious lives in the highest regard by doing everything in your power to ensure Hillary Clinton will NOT be their next Commander-in-Chief! Our Troops Deserve Everyone Who Supports Them To VOTE this time around, no sitting home!!!

We must honor and do our part to preserve the precious way of life so many brave Americans have given their lives to provide and protect! This next election is the most important of our lifetime and Americans must understand, if Hillary Clinton is elected she will appoint to the Supreme Court a liberal judge who will change the balance of the court and our children's children will suffer and our country will be lost forever!

May God Bless & Watch Over Our Veterans & All The Brave Men and Women Serving Now! My family is deeply grateful for your service.

With A Mother's Heart,

Beverly Perlson

I'm a Trump/Cruz (or Trump/West) man, but your post #20 is very valid, and very important. I don't mind seeing it time and again.

Trump needs to be pressured on that issue, and he needs to clearly explain just where he stands there. Because if, after reflection, he truly believes today what he said there (not so long ago), I might have to reassess Trump/Cruz.

Maybe go with R. Lee Ermey/Cruz (half-kidding)

The only ones that I see even being on the front lines are Trump and Cruz. The rest would be cowering back in DC.

Having spent a fair chunk of time in the service, I think I’m somewhat astute at sizing up leadership qualities. I believe leadership is inherent. You can enhance it, perfect it, but essentially you either have it or you don’t. My take:

Trump: Purest and most obvious leader amongst them all. Head and shoulders above anyone in the field. You look at Trump and love him or hate him, know he is in charge and that he has a plan and can get people to execute it. Strategic general.

Cruz: at the moment a number 2 guy. He’s your equivalent of a tactical planner. If Trump is MacArthur or Eisenhower, Cruz is Omar Bradley. Trump sets the strategy, Cruz executes it. You need people like this and why I thunk Cruz would be an excellent VP. Bradley was actually the last of the 5 stars so think of Cruz as a potential president, just not in 2016.

Jeb: classic example of the senior officer placed in command of something not on merit or leadership qualities but based on who his connections are. The boss’ son. Most troops or employees would hate him and spend endless time complaining about him. No moral authority to get anything done. Might have a few minor successes but without the help of the team.

Carly and Kasich: I lump them together because they are the same personality wise. Loud, obnoxious, arrogant and think they know more than you but with little practical achievement. You would come out of a meeting or plans meeting with them hating them because they would not listen to you and insist that their way was right. Would listen to you but then tell you everything was wrong. They’d be the equivalent of a brigade or division commander who had some occasional success but after not listening to anyone got their troops chewed up pretty bad with an ill conceived plan.

Rand: There are Rand Paul’s all over the military. Solid people with good ideas who are either just a bit out there or who argue some point over and over and who become annoying and then get marginalized, these people usually flame out at Colonel because they do not have the leadership skills of a general (Trump) or the butt kissing skills of one.

Rubio: simple for Rubio. He’s the guy who tells you one thing and then does the other. Will assure you that he is on your side, will agree with your perspective then go into somewhere and come out and tell you he got overruled while he was the one who sold you out. Typical political general, worried about his next promotion.

Carson: Ben is the civilian in a military organization. They are all over as well. Oftentimes great adminstrators, good ideas and perspectives but not leaders

It sounds almost like you’re describing Senator Tom Cotton.

Ever been in a bar with a “deal maker” that started a fight?

Try it then come back and tell me you would follow a “deal maker” into battle.
