Don’t forget rights to run these old films.
Just doing a basic 3 camera talking head and making it look good isn’t exactly cheap. I spent enough time in TV production land.
Just me doing my stock clips has some costs such as camera, support equipment, hiring of talent when appropriate among other things.

“With out sponsors itâs tough to do this...”
I see it a bit differently. This is or should not be an expensive show to produce. “Sponsors” generally arise after a show has proven to be an audience-grabber.
I remember the show well and thought it was very clever and funny, though I was not an obsessive fan.
But there are some things I do not understand about the situation. Wikipedia says 197 episodes were produced....that’s plenty for a syndication. And the series won a fair number of awards etc; so what’s the problem with re-running existing episodes?
[suspected answer: He doesn’t own them]
Why is not the show being re-run as is?

There are plenty of old public domain crapola films that they can use.

Rhino Video is selling the old episodes at a pretty steep price.

I’m glad there are and they deserve to be made fun of.
I’ve enjoyed Rifftracks and Rifftracks live events.

Maybe they could riff on the Debates...
For the Dems, they could substitute intelligent, substantive thoughts. Imagine Hillary saying something substantive and truthful! That’d have me on the floor in hysteria...

I enjoy watching the series online, but really people, in Obama's America the jokes would be infuriating. They were at times anyway.
It's a hilarious concept and show, but the creators were all libs.

Rhino Video is selling the old episodes at a pretty steep price. Now I understand the $2M figure. The first $1.5M will go to lawyers.

When I see some of the videos on youtube that are produced for next to nothing and rival network broadcast quality, I have to wonder about this $2.2M figure.
