ï â@jmartNYT Sad news from Tennessee: Fred Thompson died today in Nashville. A recurrence of lymphoma, per a statement. Quite a life.
RIP good sir.
Sigh... yes, that was a sad run. I remember being so happy when he got in. He was way better than any of the pukes that year.
I was also shocked at the time by the “friendly fire” he took from Ann Coulter and James Dobson. I often wondered whether he might have made more of a run at it, had those two douches not attacked their own.
So many others that should have gone before him, If I am allowed to say that............
Wow, was watching a Nixon Bio recently and saw a young Fred during the impeachment hearings. Was a good actor (Law and Order) and Sen
In an alternate universe he’d be finishing up Obama’s 2nd term right now.
His most quotable Die Hard 2 line:

You are alloewed I thought the same thing jimah is still kicking
At one point his girlfriend was Lori Morgan.
I’m so sorry. I liked Fred. RIP.
Very sad news. Memory eternal.
Fred was so great. He was the first to school a snotty TV debate moderator. Maybe when he saw last week’s CNBC meltdown, he knew it was now OK for him to pass ... :-(
Haven’t seen anything about Lori Morgan in ages. She was one beautiful lady.
You will be missed Fred.
We still remember his response to some moderator’s foolishness in a debate, about having the candidates answer a question by a show of hands...everyone of ‘em, (except Fred of course ;), was in various stages of raising their hands when Fred read the moderator the riot act - in the politest Southern gentleman’s way, and the rest of ‘em couldn’t drop their hands fast enough, lol.
Godspeed Fred.
Tatt
He’ll be missed.
RIP and prayers up for his loved ones
I remember justmin the last week his awesome line from the hunt for red october meme was posted.
OH NO!!! I really loved that man!!!
Prayers up for his family....RIP Fred....
Family’s statement:
“Fred believed that the greatness of our nation was defined by the hard work, faith and honesty of its people. He had an enduring belief in the exceptionalism of our country, and that America could provide the opportunity for any boy or girl, in any corner of our country, to succeed in life...Our nation has lost a servant, Tennessee has lost a son, and our family has lost its rock.”
RIP. He was the first candidate I supported (although I was just a baby). I even handed out stickers for him back in 2007.
“Yes and an icon from Law and Order.”
Yes, I loved his role as the DA. RIP.
Nobody was going to beat Obama in 2008. It was inevitable.
Lovely man. Condolences to the family.
