From California to Texas- Real Hope and Change

Posted on 10/21/2015 11:22:00 AM PDT by uscga77

We've been here a month. Just got a newsletter from our State Rep. He is called a courageous conservative, pro-private enterprise, lower taxes, and 100% pro-life. That fellow wouldn't stand a chance where I last lived. That's why I'm here. We love it. God bless Texas!

>> We love it.

Welcome!

We who are already blessed to live here love it when more conservatives come in, too!

Now go out and buy yourself those extended capacity magazines you’ve been missing. They’re at your local Wal-Mart, if not your local convenience store. :-)

Lived in San Antonio while assigned there in the Air Force from 1984-88. Loved it. Enjoy it! It may end up being the last refuge of freedom in “America.”

Congratulations! I'm stuck in uber-liberal Pennsylvania. Should have moved when I had the chance.

Welcome! We did the same two months ago. Living about 30 miles north of Dallas.

San Antonio and Austin are nothing like they were in the 80 and 90’s. Look more on west, north, or east Texas if you want conservatism and affordable housing.

Welcome, all y’all! Texas is a breath of conservative fresh air, even with the Democrat machines in Austin and here in San Antonio.

Lucky you for making the escape from Cali! I hope to do so in a couple of years.

Texas isn’t just a state. It’s a state of mind!

Welcome!

My wife is from Philly. I met her when I was in the Corps. If she hadn’t met me I’m sure she’d be a liberal. I do catch her having liberal thoughts now and then. It gets a little scary sometimes. But I believe she has come around.

She used to think Mexican food was Taco Bell. She now knows that ain’t the case.

While Austin has been a liberal bastion since around that time full of hippies, weirdos and political freaks, San Antonio is decidedly not the same. Yes there are more liberals around here than I would like but they are for the most part within the city limits. As soon as you leave the SA city limits proper, liberals become a scarce as horned-toads. And I daresay that Austin is a somewhat similar situation. By the time you drive a few miles West past Dripping Springs or South towards Buda, liberals become far more scarce.

Welcome to Texas. I live in Cedar Park and I meet new Californians over here often, and all have similar stories of why they left.

I live in Cedar Park which borders North Austin. North Austin is not as wacko as Central or South Austin. Cedar Park is also not Travis County, which is great. I’m thankful that I do not live in Austin.

Welcome to Texas. As a true native Texan (family was in Texas before it was a state), Texas is a “state of mind”. It isn’t southern. It isn’t Mid-western. Texas just...IS.

For that matter it still looks at Washington with a very untrusting eye.
