Frankly, we don't know that. The towers collapsed at a rate very close to free-fall: that is, like dropping a ball of a roof. Why did millions of tons of steel and concrete not impede the rate of fall by any significant degree?

And why did 7, a building not impacted by any airplanes, seem to fall by a pre-planned implosion?
