Bill Cosby testified under oath for about seven hours on Friday in response to a civil suit brought by a woman who accuses the veteran comedian of sexually abusing her when she was 15, a lawyer for the plaintiff said on Saturday.

Your suspicion is wrong. Some of the young women I worked with at the time were working at the Playboy mansion, and they were telling me they did not like Bill Cosby and did not want to be working at the Playboy mansion anytime Bill Cosby was there. In other words, they were telling me they were afraid of Bill Cosby and he had a bad reputation among these women.

Yeah, right.

This is suspicious. It has all the earmarks of a modern-day, high-tech lynching. Just because lots of people are on the bandwagon doesn’t mean it isn’t a lynching. A lynching, by definition, requires a lot of people. Cosby has, as one poster noted, run away from the government’s plantation by criticizing the thug life. Let’s at least withhold judgment until he has his day in court. If it turns out he really is this scum bag, bury him.

On rethinking the memory angle, if he is a decent guy he probably would remember the incident, assuming he knew she was indeed 15. As I mentioned before, anybody who even let an underage person visit what is, apparently, a whore house run by a big corporation, needs his head examined. But if he is the scumbag these women claim then it is unlikely that the events made much of an impression. I just find the whole thing difficult to believe. How many times have we seen this lynching attempted? Remember the Duke Lacrosse team? There probably wasn’t any money there, but there are millions of dollars here, for the taking.

Well said, and exactly true.

My understanding of this is that Cosby has settled and paid at least some of his accusers off. Now what does that tell you? Does that sound like someone who’s hands are clean or does it sound like someone who wants to bury his past at any cost?

The accusations against him are disgusting and if any of them are true then there should be some way to still get some semblance of justice. Even if it’s only in a monetary way. There’s over 3 dozen women who claim to have been drugged or otherwise molested and or raped by this creep? How about a lie detector test? If he Takes one and passes the whole world will want to apologize. They used to really love him.

I don't think there was a whole lot of singing from hymnals going on at the Playboy “mansion” in the ‘60s/’70s/’80s.

“Yeah, right.”

The reason the subject of Bill Cosby came up in the first place was because he was accused by a woman at the time, mid 1970s, and a customer asked me what I thought of Bill Cosby as I was bartending. I responded saying I didn’t know much about him, but he seemed to be a good comedian. That is when some of the cocktail waitresses who worked at the Playboy mansion overheard this conversation with the customer, and they got upset with me and started telling me about how they didn’t like the guy and why. After that for some years Cosby would be in the news and discussed at the bar, and the waitresses would start in on him again. That’s why I haven’t forgotten what they said, because I heard it so often and with conviction.

Billy Graham’s grandson claims Evangelicals are ‘worse’ than the Catholic Church on responding to sex abuse claims.

Speaking at a conference hosted by the Religion Newswriter Association on Thursday, Professor Boz Tchividjian, the third-eldest grandchild of Reverend Billy Graham, also said that Christian missions overseas are a ‘magnet’ for sex abusers.

‘I think we are worse [than Catholics],’ Tchividjian told the audience at the Austin, Texas, conference according to Religion News Service. In an uncompromising address, Tchividjian added that too many Evangelicals had ‘sacrificed the souls’ of young victims.

No - I’m not defending Cosby because of his politics.

I’m questioning the motives of the liberals - because of his politics. Why are they coming out publicly now?

He may be guilty. I wish these women had come forward when it happened.

I’m sure it could have happened. Most men have no idea how often stuff like this happens. And lesser attacks happen more frequently. So it’s possible.

I love FR and I donate everything I can.

It’s threads like this that make me ill. I know we should distrust pop culture and the media. I’m with you all. But here is a man clearly as sick and perverted as anyone could be without killing and eating his victims. Evil.

Every sexual predator would LOVE to have a great cover. Something that would prevent him from ever getting caught at his crimes. Like how pedophiles love to be coaches, teachers, and clergy so they have constant access and a great reputation for being “great with kids.”

Frankly, in the 1970s and 1980s, were there other Americans with a better cover for being a serial sick rapist than Bill Cosby, neutered, loving America’s Dad? Don’t you people get it? EVEN THESE WOMEN’S BEST FRIENDS PROBABLY DID NOT BELIEVE THEM. Seriously, if my best friend called me up and told me she met [the Bill Cosby I thought we “knew” before all this] and that he drugged and raped her, my first thought would have been, hmmm, is she having morning after regret for a drunken romp in the hay??? I mean, BILL COSBY wouldn’t do that.

Just like THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL WOULDNT MOLEST THE KIDS. But he did. I was a victim of a principal and he is on trial for multiple counts finally.

Bill Cosby had such a good cover that TO THIS VERY DAY, FREEPERS DEFEND HIM by saying it was a witch hunt because he said some non-liberal things. Or even saying that in the 1970s it was legal or perfectly acceptable to drug and rape your young teen daughters. Even if you Cosby defending FReepers thought it was fine back then to have your daughters raped and drugged, as one of your daughters I can tell you IT CAN MESS YOU UP PRETTY BADLY.

A woman’s word against BILL COSBY. Even harder to believe than against a governor from Arkansas running for President. The Nuts n Sluts defense works very well. Men are all afraid of the bunny burner type. Bill Cosby is very rich. It’s easy to assume he was being blackmailed or set up for a sweet settlement.

I don’t understand why some of you don’t see, by the sheer number and the exact MO that we aren’t talking about some bitches hungry for money. Come on. These women were victims. This was a guy as cold and sick as Ted Bundy. Smart enough to know how to hide his evil side. And what a great hiding place he had. Front and center in every American living room.

I am always interested to hear insights and personal anecdotes on FR. I also think these thoughts and memories might be deserving of a Bloggers/Personal thread. It might help people understand your side of things, and in any case, it is an interesting recollection, in no small part because it reaches back to the 70s.

I have no sympathy for sex abusers, but, if you wake up in a playboy mansion without your clothes on and wonder if you have been sexually abused then you need your head examined.

If you go to a playboy mansion you must expect something to happen other than wearing some long ears on your head.

What was a 15 year old doing in a Playboy mansion? How much did she get paid for being there? To me that would be the biggest clue of the truth. If she got paid much more than minimum wage then she was there for sex. If that is the case she got what she got paid for.

I don't care if she was a prostitute who turned ten tricks a day. She was not asking for...nor did she deserve...to be drugged and raped. No woman wants that. No woman deserves that.

Thank you for writing what I was thinking.

Just reading the sneers suggesting that these women “waited so long” means they are just in it for money is nauseating. Should these women have spoken up right away so the same people could accuse them of being in it for money years ago? The victims would have been younger and without a settled career so they would have been ripe for revictimization by those who would sneer that they were lying about a “great man” because they wanted his money. There is no point in time where victims of a famous serial rapist would be free of the accusation that they are lying for money. Even though it was too dangerous for his victims to accuse an icon individually, decades ago, there is a little more safety in numbers.

Another example of if you have enough money and celebrity, you can get away with almost anything.

Michael Jackson, pedophile.
Bill Cosby, rapist.

There’s no doubt there are others.

Your comments are a perfect example of what would have happened if these women had spoken out at the time, or been able to speak out. Disparagement. “You got what you paid for.” “It’s all your fault, you went into the room,” “If you hadn’t been dressed like that ...”

They all deserved it. The man couldn’t help himself because the women were too enticing. So he slipped them a mickey, and hey, they were asking for it, dontcha know.

I accept your testimony as is.

But I will note that a LOT of women went to the Playboy Mansion to screw wealthy and/or influential people in order to get something - work, a ring, gifts, status, whatever.

And it would not at all be uncommon to find such targeted men disgusted with them, partaking of them, giving back nothing, and leaving very angry and ashamed women in their wake. Also, in such an environment in the 70's, recreational drugs were extremely common, and expensive, and provided by the target male.

So to them cry drugs and rape and rage decades later, connected with a hungry lawyer, millions of dollars and the needs of the democrat party to shut him up, spells massive bullsh!t to me.

You say that you are not defending Bill Cosby because of his politics when you say:

“No - I’m not defending Cosby because of his politics.”

Then you immediately contradict that statement and defend Bill Cosby because of his politics when you say:

“I’m questioning the motives of the liberals - because of his politics. Why are they coming out publicly now?”

You quite clearly are saying Bill Cosby’s politics is the reason, “because of his politics...,” why these women are coming out of the woodwork to falsely accuse Bill Cosby of sexually molesting them. You are also denying the fact some of the women did make their accusations at the time the sexual assault took place; Andrea Constand is one such example:

Cosby had been testifying under oath during a sexual assault civil suit brought by former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand. The documents show that Constand’s lawyer, Dolores M. Troiani, asked the comedian: “When you got the Quaaludes, was it in your mind that you were going to use these Quaaludes for young women that you wanted to have sex with?” Cosby answered “yes.” The case was settled in 2006 for an undisclosed amount.
http://www.thewrap.com/19-bill-cosby-accusers-complete-breakdown-of-the-allegations-so-far/

Another example where the woman assaulted by Bill Cosby did not wait to make a complaint of sexual molestation is Lachele Covington in early 2000:

Actress Lachele Covington filed a police report against Cosby in 2000, alleging the comedian “put her hand under his T-shirt and guided it south toward his sweatpants,” according to a report in the New York Post.

According to the same report, authorities never charged nor questioned Cosby because they “decided no crime had been committed because until the very moment Covington pulled her hand away, all actions had been consensual.”

http://www.thewrap.com/19-bill-cosby-accusers-complete-breakdown-of-the-allegations-so-far/

“He may be guilty.”

Bill Cosby admitted his guilt in the 2005 case of Andrea Constand, yet you still only say, “He may be guilty” without acknowledging his confession of guilt in at least one case.

“I wish these women had come forward when it happened.”

Two or more of these women did come forward “when it happened”, Andrea Constand in 2005 and Lachele Covington in 2000 at the very least. Yet here you are defending Cosby’s purported innocence because you think Cosby is opposed to the politics of the Liberals. You could not be more mistaken to believe Bill Cosby represents conservative values; see:

Bill Cosby Equates Republican Racism With Anti-Civil Rights Segregationists
Mar 5, 2013

By Michael Arceneaux

For a certain segment of Bill Cosby’s fan base, the legendary comedian is as pristine as it gets. That is, so long as he doesn’t step out of his place. The moment he does, all huckleberry hell breaks loose. Indeed, one quick scan of the virtual abyss — otherwise known as the comments section — and it’s clear who would rather see Cosby do a shimmy in a good suit with Phylicia Rashad in the opening credits of “The Cosby Show” than bear witness to the racism of Republicans.

http://newsone.com/2264658/bill-cosby-cnn-republicans/

“Part of me feels that way - but another part of me is now thinking that this may be racist retribution.”

Some of the women accusing Bill Cosby of these sexual assaults and rapes are Black women, so their accusations cannot be racial retributions. However, some of Bill Cosby’s sexual assaults may have been racist retributions when you see his remarks in “Bill Cosby Equates Republican Racism With Anti-Civil Rights Segregationists.”

“Cosby was the only black speaking out about the black crime rate and the deterioration of the black family. He pi$$ed off a lot of blacks and a lot of liberals.”

That does not make him any less of a Liberal and a hypocrite hiding behind a false persona, an enemy of conservatives and conservative morals, an anti-White racist, and a serial rapist.

“One women accused him and then 15 more, smelling opportunity and $$, jumped on the bandwagon.”

A number of these women who are his accusers are already wealthy and have no interest in suing Bill Cosby for his money. Their only stated interest is to protect other women by putting them on notice of the dangers, assist less privileged victims to secure justice against Cosby’s crimes, and put the public on notice about the dangers of allowing celebrities to commit serial rapes with impunity.
