The only two years I have gotten the flu are when I got the shot. No shot for me this year.

I don't get the downright nasty ugliness towards Fiorina. Freepers are just not nice people, by and large, any longer it seems. Is it just the Trumpkins who are nasty or posters at large, I can't tell.

I didn’t get a flu shot for the longest time and didn’t get the flu, so I was fine without. But having a preemie grandbaby, and understanding that I can carry the flu virus even while not exhibiting symptoms or getting it myself, makes it necessary now. believe me, xshub is a huge baby about shots and would not get one ordinarily, but he will now. We had to get the DTAP shot also prior to being around the baby, and we all got it without a complaint.

I would venture that the vast majority of the knuckle-draggers around here are on the Trump train. Most, but not all. There may be some good ones. Like there might be some non-rapist Mexicans. LOL

If I were in that situation, I’d be all inocculated, too.

That baby is lucky to have you as grandparents.

Who knew there was even any “Trump” water any more? I know he tried to hawk it on his reality show about a decade ago.

thanks : ) I think he knows, LOL!
we bought him a Caps jersey at the game this past weekend. His dad is a Flyers fan and his mom [xsteen]a rabid caps fan [don’t think you heard about the wedding last year, but it was hockey themed...] We had to beat the Philly grandparents to providing him his FIRST jersey ; )

When you are over 65, or on Medicare, you qualify for the Superflu shot. That one really hurts! (But not as much as that new super pneumonia shot.) There is also a special one for those over 90, but the pharmacist forgot to bring those when our church sponsored their free flu shot clinic several weeks ago.

it’s only fair that the older ones, who are more susceptible to complications etc, get something stronger.

But, I think that it is only in the last year, or two, that these “stronger” shots have been available. I first heard of the pneumonia shot last year and this year is the first time I’ve heard of a stronger flu shot. I doubt that most people know they are available.

Furthermore, I hear that this year’s flu shot is VERY good.

I’m going for my shingles shot next week. You have to wait 4-6 weeks between the flu and the shingles shot.

Note to self: I wonder why it is so easy for the medical profession to a accept a separation between the flu and the shimgles shot when they fight (nearly to a man) against the idea of separating baby shots by a little time? Something to ponder...

good point on the separating of shots for adults but not babies. I am not old enough for the shingles shot, but I have heard of so many people getting shingles despite the shot. I guess it ameliorates the severity somewhat. Shingles sounds HORRIBLE as far as pain etc. goes!

Both my husband and my youngest son have had mild casses of shingles. Very mild. I don’t think either wants to get it again. why is there an age limitation on the shingles shots? I’ve know people of all ages that have had it. The rub is that it is very expensive, and that insurance generally does not cover it. Costco is the cheapest place to get it. $95 vs. $400 at other pharmacies. And G_d knows what it casts at your doctor’s. My doctor pushes going elsewhere for it because it is too expensive out of his office.

I am not sure but I am pretty sure that the shots are for people over age 60.

I think they are for anybody who has had chicken pox. And that includes almost everybody completing childhood before there was a chickenpox shot, which means that none of my kids were covered since the shot was not invented until after they had all already had chicken pox.

My youngest son, however, had the mildest case I have ever seen (as contrasted to his older sister). The Chinese doctor said that she had not seen a case like Margaret’s since she left Dehli in India where she has spent some time as a young doctor. In fact, she questioned whether it was chicken pox or small pox.

Andy’s case, on the other had was so mild that it was hardly noticeable. But it came back as Shingles when he was in college 18 years later.

A neighbor in Berkeley who used to car pool with me to nursery school showed up to drop off my kids one day looking like she was going to pass out in her car. Luckily, she lived just around the corner and was almost home. She said she was suffering from shingles, but not to worry since it was not contagious. I was so mad at her for driving in that condition that I ceased the car pooling arrangement. She is now a Berkeley City judge. However, my experience with her was that she had about the poorest judgement of anybody I have ever known!

Her husband (now her ex) defended Jihad John, the first American ex-Pat to join the Taliban in Afghanistan. She was also in the first class at Harvard Law to admit females and never let you forget it.

My point is that anybody who has had chicken pox can get shingles at any age.

Did you catch Putin’s UN speech? it was maybe the biggest news of the year.

He laid out that he saw distinction between ISIS and any other Syrian rebels.

That he was going to bomb them all.

Oh and then he called out the west for funding and continuing ISIS.
