Donald Trump's Lamborghini Diablo is up for sale
Autoblog ^ | Oct. 1, 2015 | Noah Joseph

Back in Donald Trump's booming heyday, a car couldn't get much flashier, much more outlandish, much more... Trump than a Lamborghini Diablo. Turns out he actually owned one – a 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster, to be specific, like the one pictured above. And now it's up for sale.

Donald Trump Lamborghini DiabloThis VT roadster is one of just 200 or so that were made before the 1999 facelift. It featured the Viscous Traction (viscous-fluid coupling) all-wheel drive system that debuted on the Diablo VT, and the carbon-fiber roof panel could be removed and stowed over the engine cover. Short of the Ferrari 575M Superamerica with the Fioravanti-designed flip-top, we could hardly imagine a more fitting set of wheels for the mogul.

Bear in mind that the Diablo was developed when the company was owned by Chrysler – which would not, of course, prove the last time Chrysler would be in bed with an Italian automaker. This one was built after the brand was sold to a Malaysian company (before it was absorbed into the Volkswagen Group). And in those days, Lamborghini was closely allied with US-based supercar manufacturer Vector Motors. The Diablo was about as American as an Italian supercar could be.

Trump's is finished in French Racing Blue and appears to be in pristine condition. It's now been adorned with Trump stickers, seemingly well-documented as having belonged to Trump himself, and formerly registered in Palm Beach, FL. It's being sold by one Michael Digonis in New York via The Drive, who is asking $299,000 for it. That is a lot, but considering the celebrity provenance it could prove a sound investment – especially if Trump wins the Republican nomination and the general election next year.

If he’s really that generous, he can prove it by giving me his Lambo.

The car no longer belongs to him. The seller acquired it some time ago.

Back in the 1990s, I was trying to decide on a new car and narrowed the field down to the Lamborghini Diablo and Ferrari F-50.

I liked the Ferrari F-50 more but ended up getting a used F-150 pickup that is still running strong on it's second engine and transmission.

Trump isn’t selling it. He sold it some time back. It is currently owned and being sold by one Michael Digonis.

Trump could make even more hay with this then: He could say he didn’t sell baby parts to buy his Lambo.

Haha! Don’t tell anybody I actually read it; I might get banned.

Fwiw, I think the headline is intended to suggest Trump is selling his car. The MSM would like to give the impression he’s scraping for $, imho.

It is purty but IMHO can’t compare to the Ferrari 250 GTO of 1962-1964.

Your post made me realize something. I don’t see cars, any cars as beautiful! I would never describe a car as beautiful. Comfortable, useful, powerful but I don’t see any beauty in them. I see beauty in nature not mechanics.

I saw Donald and his current wife with this car on New Year’s day in Palm Beach back in the day. He was married to another woman at the time. The then GF was very, very pretty. The blue of the Lambo was very, very unusual. Don’t remember much about Donald.

Now if only Jon Voight had owned it too!

Are you not able to see beauty in created aesthetics - from art to art-like designs of various fields?

Picasso? Monet?

Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper”?

Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling?

Frank Lloyd Wright?

Really?

I AM an artist so yes, I certainly see beauty in art!

Most of the names you mentioned painted nature, people, landscapes, animals. Very beautiful art. Frank Loyd Wright designed ugly but livable houses.
