Couple Sue State Police After Disabled Vet Is Beaten; Quadriplegic Wife Could Not Stand
KMEL (Delaware) ^ | September 28, 2015

This story is truly tragic. A Delaware quadriplegic woman and her husband, a disabled veteran, are suing state police after he was beaten during a police raid.

According to the Delewareonline.com, officers beat and used a stun gun on the husband when he was trying to cover his quadriplegic wife with a cover. When the officers raided the home, they found the husband in the bedroom with his wife giving her a sponge bath. Her wheel chair was also in the room.

Lisa was lying on the bed when officers ordered her to stand up. She could not because of her condition, which family members had already told officers before they entered the room. Yet still officers continued demanding she stand up and “shouted at her to do what she could not: stand up.”

Ruther, her husband, was allegedly attempting to cover her with a towel when officers pushed him down,  punched him repeatedly and used a taser on him twice!

What evidence do you have that a disabled veteran was not beaten and that his quadriplegic wife was not harassed (”Stand up” They may as well have asked her to fly)

I would be very interested in hearing any true and correct facts about this incident either from you or anyone else.

You have failed to provide counter evidence. It is not the job of any freeper to do your homework for you.

And what has happened since 9/11? “Officer safety” has now trimmed the safety of innocents,

The officers who rushed in on 9/11 did *not* put officer safety above the safety of innocents.

That is the fundamental difference.

I am assuming they didn't know they were there. Not all warrants include 24 hour surveillance.

The other issue is that they brought in an outside team to serve the warrant.

But an outside team is not that unusual. In the SO I worked for, there was a specialty team who only served warrants and assisted the other officers if they needed help.

What were they serving the warrant for .. I don’t recall reading that in the story .. did I miss it ..??

Mainly nowadays , from what I have seen, the police do not give a squat about anyone but their own. From their point of view, the general public are sub human not not fit to live. and they exist only at their charity. Oh, there are a few with human compassion today but, the numbers are small and are getting smaller. Contrast this with 50 years ago when the bullies and sadists were in the minority.

The victim couple were staying with a sibling. Their two nephews were selling drugs out of the residence. The warrant was based upon multiple purchases out of the same residence.

That explains a lot.

They were just raiding a drug house.

The busting down the door for drug raids policy needs to be ended. Knock on the damn door like civilized persons and treat residents like humans. I'll tell you one thing if they badge or no had done that to my wife they would have regretted it at some point. Caregivers tend to be defenders as well.

The War On Drugs is an out of control police state war on us and agencies have pushed it well beyond any Constitutional and common sense standards. This crap started when agencies began becoming funded by property and cash forfeitures. That incentive also needs to end.

LOL, you need to take a chill pill my friend. All I ever said was “does anybody know the truth about what happened” and you go ballistic over that statement!??

Multiple sources have been provided. Clearly you do not believe them, therefore, you need to do your homework.

That is the truth——if you do not believe the provided information, do your own research.

........I’ve not see one “source” from anybody, including you, about what happened. Until then, if it’s ok with you, I will keep an open mind about it. Moreover, in the future, when a freeper asks “does anybody know the truth?” you might try to understand that he/she is inquiring about what happened because he/she doesn’t have the time to research the conflicting sides. That you are all worked up about this non issue is just amazing to me.

There are several links within the thread. I see that you have chosen not to read them and want others to summarize it for you.
