Mass Grave Found in California Reveals Prehistoric Violence Against ‘Outsiders’
Western Digs ^ | September 28, 2015 | Blake de Pastino

...Now, chemical analysis has revealed that the men were far from home when they were killed, up to several days’ journey from where they were born and raised.

The discovery is only the most recent example of violence among prehistoric hunter-gatherers in the region, anthropologists say. But it bears important lessons about the nature of conflict and warfare in pre-contact California...

The grave was unearthed in 2012 during the construction of a shopping center in the town of Pleasanton, in the Amador Valley just east of Oakland...

One of the men suffered a severe blow above the left eye, causing fractures that radiated through the side of his skull.

Another took a blow above the right eye, and a flake of obsidian was found by his pelvis.

Still another contained a biface, or knife-shaped blade, made of chert between his ribs.

All of the remains returned the same radiocarbon range, dating to around the year 850 CE.

I am sure their pre-historic Democrat equivalent wanted to impose obsidian-control!

By going through R, Y, and U first.

CE and BCE drive me crazy.

I read a lot of old books and when I read something newer and come across CE or BCE it is like driving across an annoying speed bump that shouldn't be there in the first place.

"It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way."

I was curious as to where the locals got the obsidian.

A map showing areas where obsidian can be found and an article about obsidian collecting in the field.

Geological Outings Around the Bay: Napa Glass Mountain

I'm assuming the locals must have traveled or traded with folks from the Napa area, (that would have been closest to the Bay Area.)

Can’t be true; because early Californians lived in a perfect Eden before the arrival of Father Serra and the racist Europeans, who made them put down their weapons and taught them farming (raising their food levels), construction techniques, writing, etc.
