Forecast predicts Hurricane Joaquin will charge up Chesapeake Bay
Baltimore Sun ^ | 9/30/15 | Scott Dance

The center of Hurricane Joaquin could be churning up the Chesapeake Bay come Monday morning, bringing flooding rains and storm surge with it.

The storm — which was upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane Wednesday morning — is still about 200 miles east of the Bahamas, but is expected to strengthen and shift northward soon, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Joaquin is expected to make a right turn and speed up the Eastern Seaboard starting Friday, before crossing the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Sunday and heading up the Chesapeake on Monday.

While forecasts are tenuous several days out, a significant impact to Maryland is appearing increasingly likely. At least one key forecasting model continues to predict the storm will stay far from shore, though.

The folks with the "turn right", "turn left" glib comments here just confuse the heck out of everyone. Post pictures or discuss the latest track please.

Hurricanes are serious business.

I sat through a hurricane in Annapolis in the 80s it got wet, streets were flooded a few days, and then formations were outside again....sigh, memories.

Damaging Baltimore is only going to make the race of professional victims riot again with a new excuse to steal and destroy private property. Deja Vu New Orleans all over.

YEP! The RAT plantation, having taught its slaves that rioting and looting and assassination is OK because #BLM > WLs are hiring guards for Joaquin, this time at their wrought-iron gates.

As ye sow, ye shall REAP.

This is signal from God.
There is a whole lot of that going on right now.

Ditto.

(numerous drafts, self-deleted, that tried to explain why a Cat 5 direct hit on DC would be a bad thing)

It's a promised thing.

Genesis 12:1-3
The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father's home, and go to a land that I am going to show you. 2 I will give you many descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will bless you and make your name famous, so that you will be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you,
But I will curse those who curse you.
And through you I will bless all the nations.

Yes, if it actually goes over DC like the Weather Service currently predicts, as my power goes out and my basement floods, I can always console myself that there is not a location more deserving of a bad storm than DC.

May God pass his wrath over them in the mercy of Jesus Christ. Amen. I have a feeling about this storm.

I am in Northern Virginia. Hurricanes and tropical storms suck when 80 ft native trees start falling around your house. Some folks lost power for 3 weeks during Hurricane Izzy.

Fortunately in our humble abode in Central MD we're on high ground. All we have to worry about is wind-blown projectiles and the Pin Oak in front of our house falling through our roof.

Some of us are in the direct path of this storm and very worried about our homes and safety. Please keep that in mind.
