A group of hikers in Tyrol were attacked by three aggressive mountain bikers on Saturday afternoon as they descended the Rumer Alm in the Innsbruck Land district. One of the hikers suffered multiple lacerations.
Police told local media that five hikers were descending from the alm towards the valley at around 5.30pm when they were overtaken at high speed by a mountain biker.
The group called after the biker that he should slow down - at which point he stopped and put one of the hikers in a stranglehold. The man struggled to free himself and the biker sped off down the valley.
When the hikers reached the Siebenwegekreuzung they found the biker was waiting for them with two friends. They knocked one of the group, a 58-year-old man, to the ground and kicked him. One of the bikers hit him in the face with his helmet, and the man suffered multiple cuts on his head and bruising on his chest. When the mans wife tried to come to his aid one of the cyclists punched her in the stomach.
Police are now looking for the three mountain bikers, who are between 20 and 25 years old and speak High German. One of the men has blond, curly hair and "piercing" blue eyes. Another is described as short, with dark hair and an athletic build. Two of the men were riding downhill mountain bikes and one was on an ordinary mountain bike.
Like having an old M3 combat knife on your hip and a staff (hiking stick) with a quick connect adapter to accept the blade.
It would be a less threatening way to have access to a spear until the time came when you might need it.
“Or, perhaps Oxford and Southern English.”
The last time I spoke Oxford English to a Brit he thought I either insulted his gas water boiler or wife and agreed with me.
We have a large Rottweiler dog who serves as an effective way to discourage missionary boys wearing white shirts and ties, door to door sales people, and uninvited visitors in the middle of the night. We have signs on our gates and front door. By the way Brody has been known to open the front door to receive guests if we do not lock the door with the deadbolt. He knows how to open doors with latches and knobs. Brody is a very good dog.
Hikers, man, been there did that.
But, and speaking as a proud MOUNTAIN BIKER: “Friggin’ peds, I’d have run over his old lady too but the b*tch is FAST!”
It is dawg eat dawg out there. F’ing Europeeens, panzies.
Now, on a certain level, I kinda get what yer sayin’. I always turn around and go back when I see somebody with a bear.
Just haven’t met a griz yet, they are kinda hard to find down hyar in TX. :)
I hike, camp out, mountian bike and road bike. The majority of the people I encounter while doing any of these activities are considerate fellow travelers. Maybe one out of a hundred is a jerk and another three out of a hundred just not familiar with rules of etiquette and do something wrong like walk side by side on a narrow trail with ear buds in while knowing it's shared by cyclists.
There's no excuse for what these guys did.
LOL! Thanks! Picture Perfect!
Nihilists.
