At U.N., Obama Makes Forceful Defense of Diplomacy and Rebukes Rivals

President Obama came to the United Nations on Monday and made a forceful defense of diplomacy but also directly criticized Russia, China and Iran in disputes around the world and indirectly took a swipe at his Republican rivals.

At the annual General Assembly meeting of leaders, Mr. Obama hailed the international system of rules represented by the United Nations, but warned that “dangerous currents risk pulling us back in a dark more disordered world.”

Those dangerous currents include major powers who want to ignore international rules and impose order through force of military power, he said.

“In accordance with this logic, we should support tyrants like Bashar al-Assad who drops barrel bombs to massacre innocent civilians because the alternative is surely worse,” he said in comments that were in part directed at President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, whom Mr. Obama planned to meet later in the afternoon.

Yeah, sure.
'Forceful' Obama demonstrated his manliness, and made our opponents quake everywhere. Another dreaded red line might be forthcoming.

Did a manly men's choir break into a rousing rendition of 'He's a [Kenyan] lumberjack and he's OK', after the end of his speech?

“diplomacy”

Coming from the man who is trying to overthrow governments as we speak by arming the rebels. What a laugh.

Now, when the communist ruler in Russia is complaining about the US surrendering in the MidEast .....

He can't be serious. Seems like it is pretty dark right now with the refugees flooding into Europe from the Syria and Northern Africa. He must think that people are stupid.

Obama, “Russia and China are missguided and act stupidly. And so does America.”

The world feels better now?

Hard to manage that when his current sphincter is stuffed full with his head.

I watched the UN fiasco... it was a bow to every two bit thug in the world... “Yes, the United States is Stupid - Now Hold Hands and Sing ‘We Are The World”...

Yeah, the world wanted to get into a line alright - one that begged to be able to ‘ make deals’ with the likes of an idiot like Kerry...

No, President Obama YOU ARE NOT PRESIDENT OF THE WORLD. That’s a silly concept used to manipulate fools. YOU OBAMA are President of the United States - please put our interest first - or at least on your list - somewhere.

406 days until Obama is out of office...

The title must have been updated: At U.N., Obama and Putin Trade Blunt Criticisms Over Syria

Mr. Obama made a forceful defense of diplomacy but also castigated Russia by name multiple times in his speech for its defense of the Syrian government, its takeover of Crimea and its actions supporting Ukrainian rebels.
