She said she would build up the 6th Fleet, deploy missile defense in Poland (originally intended as defense against Iran, but...whatever) order joint exercises in eastern Europe and increase active troop strength in Germany... "he would get the message," -and one of many effective strategies.
In other words, she never said she would send the 6th Fleet after him or Russia... not the same thing, not even brinkmanship.
Nevertheless,
she is highly vulnerable with regard to Putin, having been in charge of HP when that company laundered millions of dollars of walking-around money to Putin through fronts in Germany, to help him secure his power. For all her bluster, this is a real investigation going on in Germany right now, and she is wide open to a charge of having helped to put Putin on the throne, as it were.
Her Rove-composed, hawk-sounding red meat with regard to Putin is more than likely meant to deflect from those rumors.

She visualized it. This was not a deliberate misrepresentation. As an attorney I deal with this stuff all the time. People witness an event and then their own impressions get injected into it and they remember the event differently from what they actually saw.
I pictured exactly what she said in my mind when I saw the video. I can understand why she remembered it in that way. It was a traumatic event for anyone witnessing it. You could not help but inject your emotions into it and seeing something that might not actually have been in the video.
I saw it once. I did not rewind it because it was too painful to watch the first time. I'm not at all sure exactly what was in the video but the picture of the fully formed baby on the table was etched in my mind. The fact that they were talking about cutting up a living breathing baby for parts while showing that could evoke a lot of emotion to make your memory of the event somewhat inaccurate.
Why did Fiorina lose in California? Do you remember?
(Besides, of course, that it’s a deep blue state) I’m asking for what they used against her during the campaign.
I am NOT supporting Ms. Fiorina, but it seems to me her answer will go down as an instance where a little hyperbole goes a long way. She created a video image that doesn’t really exist in substance but does now in the minds of anyone who heard or has read what she said. Was it propagandistic? Yes. But in a fight with opponents who make up their facts wholesale (Arkansas church bombings, sniper fire in Bosnia, boating in Cambodia) hers was a venial sin in a good cause.
If that is true, then it helps explain the media being in the tank for her during the primary. They know they can knock her out in the general.
I agree. After the debate they had one of those fact check things on CNN and this was one of them.
The conclusion was that Carly was wrong and then he went on to give the standard dem lie saying the tapes were manipulated.
There was no one there to rebut it so the lie of the tapes being manipulated stood.
What she described did in fact happen. That is true. It wasn’t shown on the video, but it was described by one who was there. In a live debate setting, I think it is unfair to parse the words. If PP tries to do that it will backfire.

Dude, public opinion on you is running 6-1 against or more....and since your entire premise is that she will be damaged by this, the PP debate will be damaged by this - the reaction here should indicate that maybe you are hypersensitive to this detail - especially in a format that is not prone to every word uttered being 100% academically technically correct.

Did they actually show the film to show how it was manipulated? In order to do that they would have had to show the video of the DEAD BABY on the table that they were going to use to harvest the parts.
They would then have to admit that the BABY IN THE VIDEO was going to be dissected for parts, but that IT WAS NOT THE BABY that that still alive when they cut it up.
Are they going to show that?
No.
In some cases fact checking is not such a good idea for liberals. Sure they might come up with some visual misrepresentation of the facts, but then they'd have to show the actual video.
The more people who see that video, the more people will become pro-life.
Let these liberal pundits bring attention to it. Let's all see the videos. They will separate the sociopaths from the empathetic. The good people from the evil people.

I believe the question about PP practices was raised long before the debates started, Fiorina just used the issue to her advantage. She made her point.

Carly too the biggest swipes at the new Jesus of FR, which normally indicates almost any Carly thread would attract agreement with any negative assessment of Carly - and yet, yours couldn’t even do that. It should tell you something...an audience predisposed to disliking Carly thinks you’re off base.
And, of course, I’ve done you the favor of giving you background info on this that you can use effectively if it comes up. You will be precise.
Great catch. It’s the unforced errors that can deal a mortal blow. Not sure who wound want to pick this up and run with it. Beating up on girls is not a winning strategy.

There’s support there, but FR is a radically pro-life site, so the inclination is to side with perceived pro-life even if the wrong candidate says it.
The fact is, though, that she was in error. Can’t deny it.
