In-n-Out imitator CaliBurger to open in Columbia, Md.
Washington Post ^ | 9/3/15 | Maura Judkis

Homesick Californians love their In-N-Out Burger -- to the point where, last year, they bought out a delivery service's entire stock of nasty frozen Double-Doubles in less than 30 minutes.

Come November, they'll have a better alternative. CaliBurger, a company so similar to In-N-Out that they were sued over a trademark dispute, has announced that they have signed a lease in the Metropolitan, a shopping center at 10000 Town Center Ave., in Columbia, Md. The restaurant, which has locations in Asia and the Middle East, will open in November.

Whenever I have to go to Cali on business travel, In-N-Out is one of the mandatory stops (the other is Del Taco).

I hope this clone is close to as good!

The Habit is close to LAX and better. Real charbroiled flavor.

The Counter is also close by. More pricey, but excellent quality with great toppings. The meat is so fresh they will serve it to you raw, though I usually go for medium rare.

The other advantage of these places: no long line of people waiting for a mediocre burger and horrendous fries.

Del Taco! Really?

Chipolte is better and ubiquitous.

Chipotle is like Starbucks. Overrated (IMO)

I have been a fan of Del Taco since I had the misfortune of being stationed in California 25 years ago.

The In-N-Out on Sepulvada is always my first stop after getting my rental. That's more-or-less tradition and isn't likely to change (like White Castle is my first stop after picking up a rental in Columbus, OH)

But one of my clients is in El Segundo, so I'll have to try The Habit for lunch sometime.

It's the onions.

Sometime when you're in L.A., you should try Tommy's burgers.

Nothing like a Tommy’s chili burger at 3 am. I remember those nights fondly....waking a few hours later needing mass quantities of cold liquid, not so much.

In-n-Out. Local young men eat there 2x week. The burgers, fries and shakes are very good and the customer service is excellent.
Del Taco. My brothers and I rode skateboard to Del Taco in Fullerton in the 70’s. Still good.
Habit. Always crowded and very good.
Tommy’s. Great hamburger with chili. Yum. Perfect preparation for heart problems (lots of salt).
Karl Karcher had seven kids go through Catholic schools in Anaheim and felt sad when Carl’s ads became soft porn in the late 90’s.
Wendy’s. The good favorite of seniors.
McDonalds. I wonder if they can recover from their shrinking business.

I just ate at Tommy’s the original at Rampart a week ago. You’d think no one will be there at 2 PM on a Thursday but the damn parking lot was full again!

In n Out, Tommy’s, Umami, Habit...and Freepers want us Socal guys to get out of Mexicali. When I do, I;ll miss these joints.

Try Hockey Burger at Washington and Soto. They’ve got the old hockey guys autographed who played in L.A AND it may be the best fries in DT l.a.

The Habit is good, but too pricey. Fries are so so. In-N-Out is still what a hamburger’s all about.
