What are your top 3 favorite episodes of the original Twilight Zone series?
Aug 28, 2015 | Self

I don't know if the following TZ episode list is 100% accurate, in terms of air dates, etc.

In any case, my top 3 favorites in the western category are:

The Grave, The 7th Is Made Up of Phantoms, and Mr. Garrity and the Graves. Other 'western' episodes are:

Mr. Denton on Doomsday, (The) Execution, Dust, A Hundred Yards Over the Rim, and Still Valley.

Of the 'Space' episodes, my top 3 are:

People Are Alike All Over, The Lonely, and The Little People. To Serve Man was a great one too, IMHO.

Other assorted favorites (in order of listed air dates) are:

Time Enough At Last, A Nice Place to Visit, A Stop at Willoughby, The Howling Man, The Night Of The Meek, The Odyssey Of Flight 33, The Rip Van Winkle Caper, The Obsolete Man, The Hunt, The Changing of the Guard, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, and Living Doll (Talky Tina).

They are all good. Now I might have to drag out my dvds and watch them all over again.

I have the entire series, of not just the TZ, but of many other classic TV shows from the 60s and 70s, saved to my PC, where I can flip between shows with a simple click of the mouse. No monkeying around with 4 episodes or so per CD.

There would be no way I could pick just three from that series. What great writing. And there are several that I don't think I've had the pleasure of watching.

I love the Twilight Zone, so it’s hard to pick just three.

1. Time Enough at Last
2. Eye of the Beholder
3. Twenty-Two
4. Third From the Sun
5. The Shelter
6. The Midnight Sun
7. The Obsolete Man
8. The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street

That’s cool. I have zillions of DVD’s. It is old school and I love it. I love those old TV shows. That was back in the day of broadcast standards and practices. Even then once in awhile something is surprising, but for the most part it is pretty clean stuff. TZ was a brilliant series — so well done.

I've always wondered why he didn't look for an eyeglass store while he had his glasses.

Yes. I like the TZ for that. The episodes left so much open to think about.

I wonder how many of the episodes would be banned from colleges today? The social justice warriors (SJW) would not be pleased.

BTW, last night I watched “No Time for Sergeants.” I love that silly movie.

There was one episode of the Andy Griffith Show where good old Floyd the Barber, commenting to someone on Barney's erratic behavior, says something close to: "You see, Barney was never married. If he had a wife, little things like this wouldn't bother him so much". Meaning of course, he was getting _____ regularly. At least that's the way I took it (many years later).

Very strange you should mention that, an Andy Griffith film, 1 minute BEFORE I posted something to you about the Andy Griffith Show! (theme from the TZ playing in my head)

I didn’t see your post before I posted. Was busy typing mine up.

Correction to an earlier post:

“There was one episode of the Andy Griffith Show where good old Floyd the Barber, commenting to someone on Barney’s erratic behavior, says something close to: “You see, Barney was never married. If he had a wife, little things like this wouldn’t bother him so much”. Meaning of course, he was getting _____ regularly. At least that’s the way I took it (many years later).”—me

Should have been:

(pp)”If he had a wife, little things like this wouldn’t bother him so much”. Meaning of course, if he was getting _____ regularly.

Left out the “if” (the 2nd one).

Sweet. I'm keeping this list open because I just discovered that Hulu has the whole series, all 156 episodes. Gonna grab a beer and a couple warm soft pretzels and start catching up. WOO HOO!

Really hard to pick because every one you named is a Classic. Two that stand out in my mind, that gave me shivers as a kid, and may have been The Outer Limits were:

The one where a scientist is transformed into a space alien and “comes to Earth” in a rocket to try and save Humanity. Another is Billy Mumy as “Anthony,” a child godling who causes terror and havoc. “It’s a good thing that do, Anthony; a very good thing....”

You mean "To Serve Man"?

If so, the alien was never an Earth scientist.

Another is Billy Mumy as “Anthony,” a child godling who causes terror and havoc. “It’s a good thing that you did, Anthony; a very good thing....”

That episode is "It's a Good Life".

Nice Place to Visit. I’ve used this in debates with non-believers who say that if there were a God, life would be “all milk and honey”.

Oh, Little Girl Lost - mine as well. Saw this a few months ago local OTA TZ marathon.

Remember The Hitchhiker with Inger Stevens?

This site should list them all

A good site for other show episodes as well

“Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” (if only to see Shatner overacting)

Many, but this one stands out for the re-use in 3rd Rock From the Sun with Shatner (Big Giant Head) and John Lithgow.

Same part, same show, different years, made reference to such... ‘the same thing happened to me’
