If N Korea supposedly wants S Korea, China wants Spratly, Russia wants Crimea...
me

Just wondering... would three countries (or maybe include a fourth muslim country also) coordinate their efforts to distract the USA, let's say in Korea with a "military action", then China or Russia would make their move on what is really attainable in their eyes... (Spratly? Taiwan? Crimea?)

Your thoughts?

During my two tours of Korea (1978-79 and 1981-82) the South was already stronger and more modern than the North. That has to be much more so these many years later.

Red China never recognized Taiwan’s independence.

We were warned about this over a half-century ago.
Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the UN.

The Naked Communist, Chapter 12, “Current Communist Goals” (Goal #7)
The USA having been weakened due to liberalism is permitting the rise of totalitarian empires again. People like Fareed Zakaria have no idea what “the rise of the rest” really means; they will live to regret it.

Consider who Obama is siding with these days. It isn’t South Korea versus Red China, as things were in the past.

Red China and South Korea are MUCH BIGGER trading partners than Red China and North Korea. It ain’t all black and white anymore.

Obama’s capitulation to Iran has basically given a green light to everyone with a long term ambition that had been thwarted by traditional US foreign policy. The collapse of world trade has also taken away the economic stick that was keeping everyone in line. And of course the corrupt oligarchs running the US has gotten all the players upset.

Russia already has the Crimea. Russia annexed it in March of 2014.

Obama’s against the march of empires—unless they are Islamic or Communistic.

I sometimes wonder if China and and the US are secretly coming to some sort of understanding about North Korea and Taiwan: North Korea reunites with the South in exchange for Taiwan rejoining the mainland.

And Ukraine and Poland re-unite with Russia... Under Soviet terms.

North Korea re-unites with the South... On the North’s terms.

Ukraine, maybe. But Poland only after one hell of a fight.

If China gets hit by a great depression, you will see, they have few resources....they have to import everything and with the devaluation of the currency, they have just increased the price for everything for their people.

Korea reunites at North Korea's terms? Are you guys nuts?

South Korea has a market economy that ranks 11th in the world to merge with starving North Korean like living in a big concentration camp? I don't think so. Yeah North Korea might have a nuke bomb but South Korea has equivalent to Israel's Iron Dome!

South Korea military has second best standing military in Asia next to Japan not counting chicom.

With all the typhoons blowing through the area have the ChiCom bases been damaged?

But the anti-communist old timers in South Korea are dying off. Young people there do not understand the evils of communism, and so are much less concerned about the North than their elders.

I don’t think so—any action could spin out of control and end up with WW III. No one wants that. If Russia or China had a deal with obama—maybe. North invades south Korea—uses rockets to smash ports and puts up a blocade. They might push into seoul but I don’t think they could do much unless China steped in. The war could pull in Japan. US troops may well be ordered to stand down or give up by the CinC. It could blow into a China/Japan war with us sitting on our hands and going to the UN—more Susan Rice speaches.
China may seize Taiwan —to protect it from Japan. But Vietnam may get into the war siding with Japan.
While we are being distracted Putin may seize his land bridge to Criema taking eastern Ukraine. If Ukraine fights—they will roll into Keiv. If Poland gets involved the russians might bomb Warsaw. Iran may seize Kuait and move on gulf states. Hamas will start to bombard Israel with rockets-—Venesula might march on Guyana, with Cuban help. Things would go south quick.

Obama I'm sure, like the communist left's general stance on this, would support a unified Korea under communist North Korea rule. He of course would never come right out and say it directly. But, as with Russia, Cuba, and Iran, just watch his actions. Deals, etc.

OK wait a minute, lets go back to the original question...

Just wondering... would three countries (or maybe include a fourth muslim country also) coordinate their efforts to distract the USA, let’s say in Korea with a “military action”, then China or Russia would make their move on what is really attainable in their eyes... (Spratly? Taiwan? Crimea?)

Absolutely.

But you’re a little off. Russia and China have been talking recently, big problem...they’ve been enemies for a long time now they’re making trade deals???

But what’s the target? US of course.

Forget Taiwan, Crimea...Russia already has Crimea. China will overlook Taiwan it’s not their primary target.

Russia and China both have a common target...the good ol US of A. When they start talking, we’re in trouble. And they started talking last year.

They don’t even need a distraction, the middle east is already doing a good job of that. Plus internal squabbles here in the US...Hillary, IRS, VA, illegal immigration, black lives matter...

Now North Korea is acting frisky again, nothing new, but they hate us too and what if they have been talking to either behind the scenes??? Would Russia and/or China use them as a decoy? Yep.

And now we’re looking down the barrel of a serious economic crisis. That might actually be a good thing, looks like China might go the way of Greece pretty soon, that would mean they probably couldn’t launch a serious military effort against anybody.

Then again, it might also start a domino effect, and we’re not in any kind of shape to withstand it either.

So...on the one hand, Russia and China do pose a threat worth looking at, but the economic situation might put everybody in the same mess, and this is beginning to look like a worldwide problem brewing. I’m not as worried about military threats right now as I am economic collapse. That would mean our biggest problem would not be Russia or China but right next door...our neighbors who just saw the bottom drop out of their world and are starving.

Thank you for your reply Paleo Pete and thank you to everyone else. Very interesting. The feeling I am getting from you all is similar to what Jim Rogers said in his book Adventure Capitalist (where he drove around the world in a custom Mercedes SUV before Mercedes built SUVs).

He said (in so many words), that the USSR and the USA kept order in a world of dis-order and now after decades of pent-up hostilities between and within multiple nations everywhere, he sees much more dis-order in the future. But the hardest working people in the world according to Jim: the Chinese.

So the endgame that Paleo Pete refers to in his post is what I feel also, China and Russia would like to take us on. (Now that we have weak executive and legislative leadership, piles of debt, etc.)

If we could ruin most any country with just one of our trident submarines firing half her silos (of nuclear missiles), how might the China, Russia and others take us on asymetrically? System hacking? Psych-ops (like on campuses), proxy wars?
