Ben Carson on being Donald Trump’s VP: ‘All things are possible’
The Washington Times ^ | August 23, 2015 | Ben Wolfgang

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Sunday opened the door to potentially serving as Donald Trump’s running mate in 2016 — or having the real estate mogul serve as his No. 2. In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Mr. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who has surged in recent polls but remains behind Mr. Trump, said the upcoming election will be a “clear choice” for the American people. Asked directly whether he would serve as Mr. Trump’s running mate, or would entertain asking the billionaire businessman to serve as his running mate, Mr. Carson indicated it’s a possibility. “I think all things are possible. But it’s much too early to begin such conversations,” he said.

Good answer, although I’d have added “Or he could be mine”.

Would be the biggest mistake Trump ever made. There will not be another successful national ticket with a black person on it for at least a generation.

“There will not be another successful national ticket with a black person on it for at least a generation.”

I absolutely don’t buy that. A generation is 5 or 6 election cycles. That is a very long time politically and in the minds of the voters. Maybe its true for the Dims, but I don’t think for the Pubs. More importantly, I wouldn’t write Carson off THIS cycle as Trump’s running mate (I don’t think Carson has a chance at POTUS though). Wouldn’t be my choice, but it is still a good one. And, if Trump were to choose Carson, I think he could win. I still prefer Cruz as POTUS or VP, but am not counting on it.

Why don’t you write me back or I’ll write you in 20-25 years to see who was right?

B. Obama sure accomplished that.

My first choice for VP is T. Cruz. Since D. Trump hasn't held political office, he'll a VP who is or has been a Senator or governor.

Dems and Reps are both wrong on guns
It’s often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 , Jul 2, 2000

For assault weapon ban, waiting period, & background check I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record. Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 , Jul 2, 2000

This alone should drop him off the radar completely; it shows clearly where his heart is, and fits in with “WE have gotta take care of the wimmin.”

This is socialism through and through.

A good man, but if Trump continues on top Cruz would be a much better choice.

Cruz is quite literally the only candidate that has a grasp on what our problems really are.

The rest are champs of the 6th grade debating team.

No Ben Carson. I am tired of someone being picked based on his color.

traditionally, you’d want your VP to be an attack dog. but i guess trump doesn’t need that.

Trump is his own attack dog. Cruz would be a better VP, as Cruz knows the mechanization of government from the inside, and where the soft spots are to turn things around.

“I may not make it another 20-25 months.”

I feel your pain. Tell you what, if Trump does select Carson as his running mate, and they go on to win it all, I’ll write you back, as that will be a lot sooner than your feared time constraints. Best wishes.

“And if it is Trump/Cruz as I suspect will happen?”

Then you're preaching to the choir, as I'm a Cruz guy. I'm in a win/win situation here (provided Trump gets in and chooses either one!)

I think Trump already has the nomination in the bag, even as early as it is.

“I think Trump already has the nomination in the bag, even as early as it is.”

And to think that as recent as June I was calling him Sideshow Don and a distraction who wasn’t serious. I guess my hatred for the establishment and political correctness, and his running tackle for guys like Cruz who would be unfairly ejected otherwise, finally won me over. It will take Herculean efforts to reverse what has transpired over the past many years, and he may be the last real hope to do it? After the 2012 election, I wrote on FR that the tipping point had been reached and we’d never return to the ways that made us great because the takers now exceeded the givers. I hope I was wrong.
