The first video show Khalifa surrounded by cops.

“This? I didn’t do nothing, anyway,” he says in the video showing a time stamp of 3:55 pm. “What you want to do? Put me in jail because I didn’t listen to what you say? We can have all the conversations you want to, you can end up on TMZ, destined to become as famous as you wanna be.”

...

Khalifa went to Twitter regarding the incident, mentioning in multiple tweets that hoverboards were the way of the future.

such devices do not belong in crowded places like LAX and Walmart

but arresting someone seems an awful kind of response... why not just ask him to walk normally (and carry his wheels)? Most people would comply (second stage if ever necessary): give him an ‘infraction’ ticket...

do we really need to be arresting everybody for even the smallest of things? just saying

From what he said on the video it sounds like they did ask him.

Tasers have only killed some 400 people so far so, yes, it’s not lethal force, only a portable electrical chair for the sheep.

when a police officer gives you an order.....obey it, if you don’t like it, protest to his department....other than that STFU.

There cannot be a law against this device. This was just jackass cops. And that “stop resisting,,, stop resisting” that they keep repeating. Its a scam simply designed to make audiotape sound good. They yell it no matter what the person is doing.

Good grief....it's no wonder that idiot groups like black lives matter spring up ....PATHETIC

The ONLY reason that three cops on one man who has his hands handcuffed behind his back and is on or nearly on the floor, to be repeatedly yelling “STOP RESISTING” is to make their report look good and to cover their lying butts.

I've worked in a maximum security institution for many years, it's obvious that you have never been in one.....stop resisting order is to save the perp from REAL force and for the safety of all concerned....believe me!

Read the article, they did warn him and he IGNORED their order....hence the legitimate arrest.....sounds like disorderly conduct bust to me!....maybe a $1,000 fine???

Behave yourself and don't get tasered.....I work in a Max security facility and we get a taser shot during training...get's your attention.....no fatalities so far.

I guess what I am trying to get at is this...
is it necessary to “arrest” people?
(maybe this guy, depending on his behavior, perhaps yes?)
but in general...
there are so many arrests....
when... if as you say the likely best result is a fine...
just hand him an infraction ticket (like usually is done for traffic violations, which this sort of was anyways...in its little minor way....)

an arrest has additional costs and consequences, and poisons our society badly when aggregated over the thousands and thousands of similar incidents

just my thought. maybe I am wrong, not sure. we are incarcerating more of our citizens than almost any other country on earth..... and to what effect? I think we need to rethink the use of the arrest power... focus it on the more serious crimes....

Nickname given to him by his Muslim grandfather. Neither he or his parents are though. Not sure how I knew that...probably from some show talking about his song from Furious 7.

When I see primitive cultures using advanced technogy that they themselves could never have created I say, out loud, “cargo cult”. It’s spontaneous.

I just said it right now.
