Please tell me if you think Netflix's basic service is worthwhile. If you have it, do you regret it or recommend it? I know they have plenty of movies, but do they stream any current TV shows after they air on cable (say next day, or something like that)?

I have Netflix, it’s okay. I’m now looking at Amazon’s new thing mainly because they’re getting more titles in and are going to feature Top Gear.

Check out the Amazon Instant Video offerings. I’m looking at them myself.

But yes, Netflix has been okay, just, they’re not too impressive it seems with their pickings as of late.

I like it. I don’t watch TV and actually got rid of my cable (I can watch basic stuff on the Internet) but you can get tv shows if you want and also movies. This is especially good if you want to see movies that may not run in your town or may not run for very long (in other words, anything worth seeing...).

An EMPHATIC YES. Dozens of old series, ALL the Star Treks, Netflix special shows...and it runs on four devices at once, a plus for all the people at my house. WONDERFUL collection of BBC stuff, odd documentaries...we love it.

Thumbs up! My wife watches all the series on it and there is always something new. Movies change often, but not always recent after release. Lot of content. No problems encountered.

Had the DVD service for years due to inadequate ISP speeds. Loved it. Better ISP speeds now, barely, but downloads also good. Don’t hesitate if you’re trying to purge yourself of cable/satellite services.

Great if you have kids. Okay for adults. Seems they like to fill out a lot of the content with pretty low rent B movies. You get some of the cable channel series a year after they broadcasts.

Relatively cheap.

Easy to edit your queue.

Netflix “learns you” and will finally get that you don’t like X rated homosexual porn.

Good list, especially of oldie TV and films.

If you want brand-new stuff from this week, you need to get Hulu. Netflix has older stuff and a some original series produced just for them. You can always spend 9$ for one month and then see if you like it. It’s very easy to cancel.

I think they are definitely worth $7 per month. I can’t quite figure out how they can afford to have as much stuff they produce themselves on such a low revenue base without ads. On the other hand, series TV shows only turn up after a year or more gap, nothing like later in the week for current series.

I got rid of cable 6 years ago and am not going back. Currently have Netflix and HBO now.

For later.

We have HuluPlus, but are thinking about Netflix. I'll be reading the comments on this thread.

It’s great for my grandkids. I’m not much of a movie watcher.

YES! I don’t have time for commercial TV, or cable news spewing its garbage! I have learned much real history and have saved time by watching what I want, when I want, commercial-free. I am ahead with the $$$ I have saved by cutting the cable...

For the price, you can’t beat it...

Lots of older shows, back when TV was watchable...

My wife and I probably watch more Netflix than regular TV...

Because of my financial situation over the last several years, my entertainment budget is $8.99 a month. Netflix has more than been worth it to me. I can watch a ton of stuff at any time.

Yes. We think it is worth it. However, if you haven’t donated to the Freepathon, then you should do that first.

“I like it. I don’t watch TV and actually got rid of my cable”

Same here. I’ve had Netflix for years and will probably never go back to cable.
