This proverb warns against letting evil people entice us into their evil-doing...murder, theft, violence, etc.-—in pursuit personal ambition, wealth, fame, power, or other gain. In believing that he (McConnell) gains something by defending and protecting evil-doers who take away the lives of the unborn for their own gain, McConnell and the murderers are actually taking away their own lives. This means that the ambush evil-doers and their protectors (i.e., McConnell)set for someone else is actually a trap into which they (McConnell and PP murderers) will fall because no one can sin and get away with it. Ultimately McConnell and PP (if they do not repent) will reap what they sow, if not in this world then most certainly in the next (Gal. 6:7-8)

“Ultimately,” there will be consequences in both (this world and the next). That is how reality is constructed.
It is doubtful if McConnell has the wit to discern the subtleties. Clearly, PP does not.
