I don’t think it would be possible for the core to “start spinning”. It would have been spinning as the earth formed through gravitational collapse.

My favorite statistic is that the Earth weighs 13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 lbs, yet a 100 lb liberal thinks he can save it. Can we say ‘God complex?’ It remains to be seen whether God is laughing or frowning.The first day of Physics class in college the professor asked the class what is the weight of the Earth?
The answer is zero. It's better to ask what is the Mass of the Earth.
