Who would have felt comfortable in these circumstances?
A Massachusetts man was driving in the town of Medford last Saturday night. He admits he took a wrong turn and ended up going the wrong way down a traffic circle.
However, how wrong a turn might his life have taken if the events that followed had taken a slightly different turn.
In dashcam video posted to YouTube by a driver who only gave his name as Michael, he is confronted by an angry man in a white tank top and shorts.
The angry man steps out of a truck and approaches him. Michael, seemingly -- and perhaps understandably -- frightened, reverses. The angry man follows him and Michael stops.
The angry man appears to show his badge and identifies himself as a police officer. Some, though, might be troubled by the officer's greeting: "I'll put a hole in your head."

A guy in a tee shirt, shorts, with tattoos & an obvious attitude cuts you off, jumps out of his truck & is reaching in his back pocket for something, in the dark.
The immediate choice is this: If this guy is a real cop I might spend the night in jail, or if not, this guy is threatening to kill me & is likely reaching for a gun.
I’d have backed up, too, & probably kept going to the nearest uniformed police.
Whether he showed a badge or a tin fake would not have stopped me.
Is “I’ll blow a hole in your head” now the standard greeting from cops in a traffic stop?
I ran a G1W for over a year and I’ve been running DOD 330W for about 8 months. Both had great day video but the DOD has much better night video.
My vids have been used twice by police. Once for an accident investigation that I witnessed and once for a red light runner that they later caught. I posted this vid https://youtu.be/-sgyuuq30r0 and the Maywood police contacted me for the original. Two things about that video, one, I had forgotten to take off the lens protector film, I noticed about a week later, and two, it was before 7am and it was still pretty dark.
Kinda scary, its very possible that when he started reaching for something I woulda shot him. If it were me in that circumstance.
Any dashcam recommendations?

Illinois passed such a law making it illegal to record police. The Seventh Circuit shot it down, saying that recording police in the public performance of their duties is a First Amendment Right.
A friend has this one and recommends it. I’m still doing research.

There have always been police , military, and guards who abuse the authority given them ; the proliferation of small cameras is allowing their bad behavior to be proven...
I guess I missed the rash of military personnel getting caught on camera. Perhaps you can point me to one.

But if you think there aren’t and haven’t always been military people abusing their authority your world must have unicorns and fairies!
There will always be those who abuse positions of authority and trust, and if the use of cameras can curb that,so much the better. The problem may be,or even now is, shifting to when and where are cameras to be used.

I spent 28 years in uniform (from E-1 to O-5), so I'd say I'm something of an expert. I NEVER saw anything approaching the behavior of your average cop on the street.

Only following orders didn’t excuse the Nazis.
And most readers would have understood I referred to the history of police,politicians,miltary,and other people of authority EVERYWHERE not just in the U.S.
Let us be clear. It is not the average cop but the all too large minority of cops who think they are a power unto themselves who cause the problems.And every day a bad cop (or whomever) continues in a position of power and authority is one day too many.
No, the real problem is the good cops who maintain the thin blue line and cover for or excuse the bad cops.
If they started turning them in themselves, and let the bad cops know they are a stain on ALL of their integrity, things would be a whole lot better. They shouldn’t want to be shot or feared just because some bad cop got away with a crime against the public he is supposed to serve.
Note how the good cop in this video covered for the drunk, loud-mouth, bully detective.
Keep reaching. Now everyone can see how silly your initial claim was.
It is silly to think military people are somehow immune from the temptations and weaknesses of other people.
And if the deaths of dozens of innocents is silly to you I will be glad to not have you as a friend.
