Some Republicans gleefully scripted Donald Trump’s political obituary in the wake of his scathing comments about Senator John McCain’s military service earlier this month, hoping that his freewheeling presidential campaign had finally imploded.
Predictions of his demise were apparently premature. Instead, Trump is gaining momentum ahead of next week’s first Republican debate, a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll shows.
The poll shows Trump with his greatest support yet nationally, as nearly a quarter of Republicans surveyed said he would be their choice as the party’s presidential nominee in 2016. He has opened up a double-digit lead over his closest rival, former Florida governor Jeb Bush, who trails at 12%.

I bet Jeb and Lindsay probably would not last even the first week if they were to appear on “The Apprentice”, lol.
I believe that what distinguished Trump and Cruz is that they’re about telling the unvarnished truth and winning, while the rest are all about political correctness, nuance and media appeasement. We’ve already tried the latter.
Now, if he calls Lindsay Graham a sniveling faggot in the debate, I’ll quit my job and volunteer for his ground army.

It’s a bit early, but at some point a poll of Democrats for Trump might be interesting; and revealing.
I am guessing the Dems have that poll and are getting terrified. His message goes across a lot of lines.
I think that will happen. He may very well “re-energize” those former Regan Dems.
IMO Trump’s biggest vulnerability will come when he is no longer just an irritant to the rest of the GOP field, but a threat to Obama himself.
When that day comes I hope Trump is prepared to withstand the total public IRS anal exam that is surely headed his way.
If he continues to stiffen spines against the Iran deal this may come sooner rather than later.
