It doesn't make sense why the NFL sold out Tom Brady

Baseball takes steps to make sure it's balls are in proper condition. Pitchers aren't allowed to scuff them or spit on them, for instance.

Football happens to be a sport which uses inflated balls; that's just part of the reality. It doesn't surpise me that the league would be concerned about maintaining the balls in proper game condition, and it doesn't surprise me that the league would be concerned about league or team personnel tampering with the balls in any way that would result in exceeding the rules of the game.

Maybe the shenanigans which occurred were benign. But there seems to be little doubt that there were indeed shenanigans, and the Patriots' and Brady's flippant and dismissive attitude towards that truth are probably what's dragging this issue out.

If the Commissioner, after lengthy review, believes that Brady should remain suspended for any number of games, then I'm OK with that. If there ends up being no punishment at all, or something in between, then I'm OK with that as well.

I simply maintain my opinion that the Commissioner is doing this because he feels strongly about one or more of principals at play. And since the Patriots aren't bigger than the NFL, let the chips fall where they may.

“It doesn’t surpise me that the league would be concerned about maintaining the balls in proper game condition, and it doesn’t surprise me that the league would be concerned about league or team personnel tampering with the balls in any way that would result in exceeding the rules of the game.”

Then how do you explain the ball protocol? Why not just check the game ball during all the commercial breaks, why have them in control of the actual team?

A possible answer to that is to promote offense and high scoring games, which is most attractive to casual fans. I mean they actually ALLOW a differently inflated ball that is better for kicking, why do they do that?
