Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for his role in using underinflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game was upheld by commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday.

In making the announcement, Goodell cited new evidence that Brady willfully obstructed the investigation by destroying his phone on or about June 23, the day of the appeals hearing between Brady and investigators.

Based on Ted Wells' report and the evidence presented at that hearing, Goodell concluded in his decision that Brady was aware of, and took steps to support, the actions of other team employees to deflate game footballs below the levels called for by NFL rules. ...

He trashed the evidence. I bet it never goes to court. He’ll lose.

"They did drop. The inconsistency was in the way the psis were measured."

LOL. Does this blog article by somebody no one has ever heard of also explain why Brady destroyed his phone and refused to cooperate. Was that an atmospheric phenomenon too?

“Why did Jim McNally refer to himself as “the deflator”?”

I have no idea. What he called himself is irrelevant. And if he was doing something illegal or against the rules why would he call attention to it?

Only thing he trashed was the cellphone. The big evidence is the balls, and league has no proof the deflation was greater than expected. It’s going to court, and he’s winning.

“Does this blog article by somebody no one has ever heard of also explain why Brady destroyed his phone and refused to cooperate.”

Just because you have not heard of him doesn't mean others have not. The article clearly shows that the data is inconsistent with manual deflation of the footballs. It simply did not happen.

Brady was right not to turn over his phone or personal information to Wells. Wells is not to be trusted. Brady's personal and private info would have been leaked and there would have been nothing he could do.

There's a hole in Tom Brady's excuse for destroying his 4-month-old cellphone

Goodell is an idiot. And where in the collective bargaining agreement does it give the NFL the authority to confiscate private cell phones?

End result will be Goodell ultimately losing his job and Brady starting every game this coming season with a major chip on his shoulder.

From the article:
***But the NFL argues that not only did Brady not offer an explanation for why he chose that date to destroy the phone, but Brady’s own actions suggest it is not normal practice to do so.

According to the NFL, Brady did not destroy the phone used before the one that was destroyed and even made it available to investigators. Brady used this phone from the spring of 2014 to November 6, 2014, but it was still around when forensic expert Brad Maryman examined Brady’s electronic data in the spring of 2015.***

Interesting.

I’m looking forward to seeing Garapalo play games 1-4. He’s shown flashes of brilliance. And with Gronk and Edelman, he should have a fairly easy time with a short game.

Timeline of events for Deflategate May 6: The Wells report is released, and it states the NFL found it "more probable than not" that Patriots personnel deliberately deflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game, and that Brady was probably "at least generally aware" of the rules violations. Among the evidence were text messages between equipment assistant John Jastremski and locker room manager Jim McNally that implicated Brady. In investigating Brady, Wells said he was hindered by Brady's refusal to provide his own emails, texts or phone records. But using Jastremski's phone records, Wells found an increase in the frequency of phone calls and texts between Brady and the equipment assistant shortly after suspicions of tampering went public. After not communicating via phone or text for six months, they spoke six times on the phone over the course of three days.

I do not have a dog in this fight; being in Alabama, I am far more interested at what happens to the SEC and Auburn and Alabama's football teams.

HOWEVER, I think anyone commenting should state their FAN-ship:

For example, “Well, as A Colts fan, I'm glad to see this happen. I believe Brady is guilty and here's why...” Links and numerous statements follow.

OR

"As a Patriots fan I believe Brady is innocent, the whole idea of being able to have an unfair advantage over a soft versus hard football is overrated and here's why...” Links, etc., follow.

Now wouldn't this help the rest of us see who's posting is “fair and balanced”?

Not by the standards of the NFL!

Only the Patriot balls were underinflated.

Yes, the Patriots are a criminal organization.
