Dani and Melinda’s home is a little more crowded these days, filled with the two of them, their husband Jon and their two babies, Ella and Oliver.

These two moms and one dad are polyamorous, or as they call it, "a triad." ... ... ... “There’s a huge poly community but unfortunately a lot of them feel like they can't be open, to be closeted. And that goes to show you it’s a lot harder to be poly than to be gay or lesbian.”

This is why Muslims engage in suicide bombings. It isn’t so much the multiple wives that drive them to it as all those mother in laws.

The supreme bozo court has successfully destroyed the very definition of marriage.

Entirely the purpose all along.
That, and criminalizing Christian beliefs.

What’s funny about that article is the polyamory people are probably furious about it.

When a couple wants to explore, the tendency (probably because the guy wants it more) is to seek out another woman. So, they’re looking for a woman who’ll be perfectly happy being subservient in a relationship where the rules are already established. The poly groups refer to this mythical female third partner as a unicorn and it’s a cause for scorn to be searching for one.

Or, as the country song goes, “me and my husband, we need a wife.”

Lol. So a major news network depicts polyamory with a unicorn relationship. Funny and ironic.

The other thing about these kinds of relationships is they spend an inordinate amount of time focused on trust and managing openess. Why? Because it’s an impossibility when you have multiple relationship angles and multiple agendas.

Defining deviancy downwards.

If you don't draw the line, the envelope will keep getting pushed.

There is support for the fact that it happened, yes, but not prescriptive sanction for it.

Look at the bright, at least the two women can be there to ask each other about their feelings, instead of having to ask him.

LOL.... Jacob had two wives and 12 sons. And, the wives were sisters. He must have been an idiot :)

“There is some scriptural support in the Bible for polygamy. There is no support for homosexuality.”

I agree with that.

Levirate marriage makes no exceptions for polygamy.

Twice as many mamas, what isn’t to like? /sardonic

That’s still better, I suppose, than no mama at all.

I believe this means where a younger brother was responsible for wedding (and then bedding) the widow of an older brother who died childless, so as to attempt to father children to the name of the older brother.

And if little brother had a wife... now he has more....

It wasn’t ideal, but neither was it considered an unalloyed evil.

Big problem in arrangements like this is, of course, jealousy!

This is no surprise to anyone here. But this quote is interesting:

“We didn’t want a feminine man, just because we’re both very feminine, so we wanted someone that would hold that role of masculinity,”

That sounds almost... traditional.

Anyhow the ideal still remains “monogamous.” I am not sure that it is required for Christians, whose faith calls for monogamous marriages, to try to require everyone else to be monogamous too. Men could legally opt out of the levirate custom but at the cost of being formally despised.

It is, in a sense of older biblical customs.

Poor kids.

I'd say the kids are better off in a family with a man and two women than a family with just two women. At least this way they have male and female parents.

And, sooner or later, the one lesbian will probably go straight and have kids of her own.

It used to be that a man could work and support his wife and 3 or 4 kids. Now it takes a man and 2 wives to support themselves and 2 kids. In the future it’ll take a village of 32 men and 45 women to make enough money to support themselves and 1 kid. The rest of the children will be aborted. Isn’t progress wonderful...!

If women were removed from the labor market the value of the labor of men would more than double and women would be able to stay home and raise children again.

The lie of our culture is that the “ideal” is a two-aren’t household where the kids are raised by grandparents, daycare, or the nanny state.
