Question: Most runs in a single MLB game THIS season (2015)?
7/22/15 | sff

Posted on 07/22/2015 8:25:47 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

I leave this to the wisdom of FREEPers...I have scoured the internet (not too well, apparently) even looking over MLB's site, and cannot find the game played this season that has more runs scored than any other.

Anyone know what it is? I am wondering...I know the season isn't over...I'm just asking "So far, what game has had more runs scored than any other?"

It would take some looking, but this site allows you to drill down to the results of every game of every team in a particular year.

About a quarter way down the page for each team, there is a section with a bar chart titled "Game Results". Scroll over the longest bars, you will see the game results and can find the highest scores for each team with minimum work.

It is an awesome site and I don't know who maintains it, but it seems to update within 24 hours or so.

4/28 wash @ atl combined runs -25 13-12

The Dodgers scored 14 in a game which I thinks is the highest this season.

That’s a hard stat to find.

And in other news, for the first time since 1962, last evening an American League pitcher won a 1-0 game by hitting his own home run--moreover, it was the pitcher's first MLB hit ever. The pitcher was Nathan Karns, and the game was Tampa Bay vs. Philadelphia. cf. here

Thanks to both of you.

Barmag, how did you find it? Did you use Vig’s site? Or some other way?

Memory, mostly. I’m a baseball nut.

I stand corrected.

6/16 bal @ phi Baltimore scored 19 in a 19-3 win.

The highest combined looks to be was @atl with 25 between the two teams.

I searched single game performances. Picked through the final scores.

I think the best single game performers list is the best place to look because very high scoring games are usually brought on by one or two players having crazy numbers for the day.

yeah, I looked at the box score of that April game.

At one point, Atlanta had a 9-1 lead. And they blew it.

What a bummer.

I recall a few years ago, Lasorda was still managing the Dodgers, I was grazing and came upon the 9th inning of a game ESPN was showing. Dodgers led the Phillies something like 11 to 1 in the 9th.

I thought I’d watch the end of the game....Well, Phillies scored 11 runs in that inning and beat the Dodgers 12 to 11.

Lasorda was sooo mad! But it sure was fun to watch.

I think it was a home game for the Phillies, too—so the fans who stuck it out really got to see a fun win.

Cincy and St. Louis have done that to each other. I was watching both. 9 runs by cin in the 9th in 2013. St. Louis did it to them a few years prior. Exciting to watch because I think both teams had 2 outs when they managed to score most of their runs.
