Welcome To Culture War 4.0: The Coming Overreach
The Federalist ^ | July 6, 2015 | Benjamin Domenech and Robert Tracinski

For those Americans who hoped the culture wars would finally end, the month of June reminded us they’re just getting started.

Within hours of the Supreme Court’s resolution of the battle over same-sex marriage—the triumph of a generation of gay-rights activists—some were already calling for further steps to take tax exemptions away from churches, use anti-discrimination laws to target religious non-profits, and crack down on religious schools’ access to voucher programs. We learned media entities would no longer publish the views of those opposed to gay marriage or treat it as an issue with two sides, and the American Civil Liberties Union announced it would no longer support bipartisan religious-freedom measures it once backed wholeheartedly. A reality TV star pushed the transgender rights movement into the center of the national dialogue even as Barack Obama’s administration used its interpretation of Title IX to push its genderless bathroom policies into public schools. And we learned that pulling Confederate merchandise off the shelves isn’t enough to mitigate the racism of the past—we must bring down statues and street signs, too, destroying reminders of history now deemed inconvenient and unsafe.

"If history repeats itself, it is good news for traditional Americans and bad news for the Left, which has taken on the role of Grand Inquisitor so rapidly that overnight civil liberties have become a Republican issue. Slowly but surely, the American Right is adopting the role of the cultural insurgent standing up for the freedom of the little guy. They crowdfund the pizza shop, baker, and photographer; they rebel against the establishment in the gaming media and at sci-fi conventions; they buy their chicken sandwiches in droves."

Liberals beware.

We have had it.

There is very little left of the reasonable social consensus that once unified Americans. The country has devolved into decadence and hedonism. The election and reelection of Obama as well as the Supreme Court’s decisions on abortion and the homosexual agenda have not occurred in a social or political vacuum. Yet there are still decent people who are resisting the cultural decline. However it is fallacy to state they have common cause with other Americans.

What overreach? Social Media has proven itself totally capable of rolling the Twittermobs in whatever direction the Left deems fit IMO.

The Left needs the Right to pay for their idiot social programs. The Right needs the Left for...nothing. This should scare the crap out of the Left. The fact that it is not even on their radar screens confirms that they are indeed morons.

Supreme Court members must be removed for dishonoring the US Constitution they vow to follow and uphold.

I wonder if network TV showed homosexual activities as they show the natural, hetero, variety, we might be at the stage of over-reach. If culture-warriors are disgusted by what they see, will they be so willing to concede that it’s natural. I wonder of the networks realize that, and are deliberately suppressing it.

Yeah...

A couple of thoughts on twitter users (twits) from my perspective:

*The left loves slogans as replacement for deeper thought/discourse generally speaking. The 140 character limit feeds into this well (can you imagine the Lincoln-Douglas debates on twitter?).

*Anyone blasted by a lefty twitter-mob should simply ignore it (easy to do if you aren't on twitter in the first place) and carry on with the correct thing to do in whatever the situation at hand is.

What overreach? Social Media has proven itself totally capable of rolling the Twittermobs in whatever direction the Left deems fit IMO.

Because everything the left is doing it coerced. They're doing it through isolation and attack, or intimidation. If someone posts an anti-left "whatever", the rabid activist brown shirts swoop in for the attack.
People aren't voluntarily cooperating. They feel they have no choice. What the left is doing to Trump is being done to everyone.

Forcing people to think and act contrary to their conscience creates hate. No matter how meek or mild an entity may seem, when poked and prodded enough, will eventually go for the throat.

I submit to you the idea that the culture war has been lost.

NO ONE would stand against the Left, for fear of being called nasty names.

Well now, it’s gone both national and local - because they’re coming for YOU, in your workplace, your town square, your childrens’ schools, and pretty soon, your homes.

“And then they came for me...”

I mourn for America. The land that I love. I will fight for her traditional virtues and morays, but you are right. We have dumbed deviancy down and have spiraled down into a culture of hedonism.

I’m not sure there are enough of us left to change the direction.

Well, Sarge, I've been noticing something. The left wing talking heads are starting to complain, because now it's affecting them.
The comedians are being silenced. They can't joke about anything anymore. Every word has to be carefully scripted as to not "offend" any left wing voting block.
Two liberal pundants have written books about the lefts silencing free speech and free thought, because even they don't feel right defending it.
Trump is getting a big following not because of what he said. People are following him because he said it! He stood up against the lefts thought police - he's fighting back.
I think we're going to be seeing more and more of this. People don't like the left telling them to "Shut up and do as we tell you" anymore. It's starting to get to people on all sides.

Twittermobs can be composed of the sort of leftists mocked as mind-numbed robots or of the sort of computer programs referred to metaphorically as robots, or any combination of the two.

There’s a simple expedient for avoiding their effects: don’t read Twitter.

Regrettably, we will NOT see this. The Left LOVES telling people to shut up - they consider that empowerment.

If comedians are toning it down, it's because they have received The Holy Word - and as New Socialist Men and Wymmyn, they have their duty to the state.

It has gone from mockery/ridicule to public and financial harassment. Watch next for the arrests.

You're preaching to the choir. I don't do Facebook either.

But Millenials are addicted to it. There is a reason the Left was able to shift the gay marriage debate 180 degrees in just a decade. Following the timeline the critical element, I would argue, is Twitter. Anyone sort of on the fence who is tending towards your side can be beaten back by Twittermob assaults.

I think for a lot of these kids social media actually tells them WHAT to think.

But now it's affecting THEM. One word that's out of line and they're done.
ANY one who disobeys the brown shirts will be punished. That means even the moderate democrats or moderate liberals have to walk in silence. Every reporter has to watch his or her back. Actors can only take politically correct roles. Magazine editors can only publish what they're "allowed" to publish.
People on all sides are getting strangled. Everyone has to live in a little box.
Eventually, they're not going to take it anymore either. There's going to be an "enlightenment" because humans have a innate desire to live free.
.
