I've Been A Bit Quiet Lately
Free Republic ^ | 28 June 2015 | Windy

Posted on 06/28/2015 12:16:00 AM PDT by Windflier

I haven't been commenting much lately because my mind is simply on overload right now. I'll bet yours is, too.

About all I can say is that, now isn’t the time for me to ramble, but to digest, contemplate, plan, and prepare.

I’ve spent years at this forum spilling my guts and taxing my synapses. The exchange of viewpoints with others, and even the verbal fisticuffs, has been rewarding in many ways for me.

But recently something’s taken hold of me that’s hard to explain. I guess I’ve quieted down due to the storm clouds I see gathering on the horizon. The low rumble of thunder is just barely heard, but I feel it in my bones. I’ve stepped back from the roundtable, and am now intently gazing at what approaches from the far distance. I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s distracted me from the hearty and boisterous conversation around me.

I’m obviously not the only one who notices, but unlike most, I’m having a hard time talking about it. My survival instincts are kicking in, and all I can seem to think about is doing what I must, to protect my family and myself.

Well, enough with the poetry. I know you get my drift.

I still harbor a great deal of hope that we can propel a conservative champion into the White House in 2016, and help to end our collective nightmare. I've become convinced that Ted Cruz is the one person who has the capacity to unite the good and decent people of this country, and that he's a man who has the requisite courage and backbone to do what must be done to rein in our tyrannical government. I am backing him 100%, and will do everything in my humble ability to see that he becomes our nominee.

For one, Ted is the very first candidate I’ve ever sent money to. Considering the fact that I’ve been voting since 1972, that’s saying something. The way I see it, this is our very last chance to steer the ship of state away from the rocks before she finally crashes, and I have got to do what I can, to avoid what will surely follow, should we fail. I do not want to look my teenaged children in the eyes in a few short years, and say, “I’m sorry kids. You shouldn’t have to risk your lives to save your country, but my generation was just too weak to keep things from coming to this.”

Although it’s incumbent upon me to stay up to date on the tragic unraveling of America, I’m doing my best to not become completely overwhelmed by the course of events. I’ve got a business to run and a family to provide for. That comes first, above all else. That, I will do, but more and more, I look to the Founders for guidance in these bleak and horrible times. Their personal stories, and the examples of heroism they provided, give me hope and strength to carry on in the face of a tyranny they would recognize at once.

In the past, I’ve prayed that our generation would not be called upon to earn our freedom as our forefathers of the 18th century did, but more and more, it appears that that hope is vain. Every day, a new page of history is printed, which in retrospect, will prove that our darkest fears were right on the mark, and that we were right to posit that this generation would either fail, or would pass the greatest test a people can face. I think we can agree that such thoughts are becoming more crystal clear by the day.

I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.

If only it were possible. I need that solitude and sense of safety. Alas, it’s not to be — at least not for several more years — that is, if things in this country can even hold together.

One saving grace is that I’m in the great state of Texas. As I’ve often told my wife, if things in America go completely sideways, we’ll be safe here, because if (God forbid) the S does HTF, things will straighten up in Texas overnight, as the good men of this state WILL stand tall, and they WILL do their ancestors proud. My certainty about that outcome is just as strong as my gut certainty about the horrific trajectory of current events in this country.

I think every thinking patriot on FR is on the same page with this. It would be a wonderful thing if the ‘other side’ would simply let us be, but they won’t. They’re going to continue pushing until something breaks. It’s just how they roll.

In my heart, I honestly feel pity for them, because when they finally light the match on that prairie fire, no power on God’s green earth will be able to put it out.

I think you freepers in Texas are just not use to this type of frustration. This is that moment when we have all become “those people over there who live in tyranny in a blue state”. Welcome to the club

As has often been said by others, 'I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.'

I'm originally from California, so I know all about being a conservative living behind enemy lines. That's a large part of what finally drove me to move my family and business here almost ten years ago. I don't mind telling you, it was the best damn decision I ever made.

Turns out my 2nd great grandfather was born here just before Texas statehood, so it's no wonder the place fits me so well :-)

Love your post and your long family history in Texas.

I believe Texas and Texans will survive, with or without other states-we are a hardy and rebellious bunch, and we would rather fight than give in to outsiders who don’t know how to just leave people alone who don’t want to be part of a hive or other socialist paradise...

Amen to that. Even in the suburbs and cities, that attitude prevails among most right thinking Texans. There's a spirit here that's all its own. One that will animate us to defend what's ours, should worse come to worst.

Thanks for standing your ground like a true Texan.

It was my understanding that Texas was being “diluted” by people who ran away from California but brought their liberal, socialist beliefs with them, only to display them in the voting booth with dire effect.

The liberal 'dilution effect' you speak of is far outweighed by the numbers of conservative Americans relocating here.

Fact is, most liberals soon find this place too much to their disliking, and wind up returning to their spoiled nests, or seeking out other liberal 'utopias'.

The One, The Enemy comes forward with an outrage a day often on wildly unconnected subjects so that our anger has no chance at traction on one issue before another greater outrage occurs.

"Gay" "marriage," fedcourt nominees, IRS lies and coverups, Benghazi lies and coverups, Fast and Furious, confederate battle flag "controversies," gun grabs, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

I am far too stubborn to be demoralized. I am the quintessential "bitter clinger."

I have been suggesting for some time to my wife about moving there. She fears change.
I tell her she is fearing the wrong change.

Ted Cruz said the next 18 months will be very dangerous. He is extremely correct.

Ted is right.

The left is going to push the people so hard in their quest for "fundamental transformation", that it's going to spark something that'll go down in the history books.

I pray that it doesn't come to bloodshed, but I don't think they'll be satisfied unless it does.

You feel posting on a site such as FR will fix our nation?

Huh? I'm pretty sure I've communicated the exact opposite here.

Writing of the Russian people, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn referenced “the accursed capacity of our people for suffering.” We would do well to take out Solzhenitsyn’s works, dust them off, read them intensely and understand what may well be coming to the US and how to resist.

This is a time for choosing who you you will stand with and what you will stand for. Choose wisely and prepare carefully. The storm is at hand.

I can't state it any more succinctly than that. It's the best advice I could give any American at this moment.

Do you think the ptb will allow a president Cruz or a reasonable fac simile anywhere near the cockpit?

I think they're going to do everything in their power to stop Cruz from getting the nomination, and failing that, they'll pull out all the stops to steal the next election.

They can do all that, but it'll only make things worse, and hasten the onset of the Great Conflagration. The People do have a breaking point, which in my estimation, we're very close to now.

Modern civilization is but a thin veneer that hides the barbarian lurking just below the surface. That thin veil of relative peace and tranquility is being shredded by the left at breakneck speed. They can easily push this country over into a civil war without much more provocation.

In my view, they don't know when to stop, so it's only a matter of time until they light a fire they can't put out.

I hope enough people are waking up so that we can reach a critical mass and put these global authoritarians OUT OF BUSINESS!

Our side doesn't yell and scream like the left does. It's hard to tell what's in the minds of free men and women, or how close they are to 'losing it' when they're under the sort of existential threat we're suffering.

If the good and decent people of this country are pushed beyond all limits of endurance, look out. There's going to be hell to pay.

As far as your original post, you spoke my heart. God help us.

I have been suggesting for some time to my wife about moving there. She fears change.

I ran into the same resistance when I first suggested to my wife that we relocate to Texas. She was so skeptical, I couldn't talk to her.

A good friend from down here suggested that I convince her to take a three day trip down here just to look around and she agreed to it (she's a sucker for a road trip :-).

Anyway, we get down here and start checking out the place, and before you know it, she was in love. She's a Southern girl by birth, so it was a better fit for her than she'd realized it would be. She'd been in Cali for so long, she'd forgotten how different things are down here.

Anywho....you might try a little visit so your wife can see what a wonderful place this is.

Cruz is/will be targeted by every media outlet, minimally.

The leftists have mastered the brinkmanship game, but they are getting careless and starting to overreach, comfortable in their own envisioned invincibility.

The remainder of your post I agree with word for word, see my post number 275 at this link
