Patrick Macnee, star of the 1960s TV series “The Avengers,” has died. He was 93.

His son Rupert said in a statement that Patrick Macnee died Thursday at his home in Rancho Mirage.

The British-born actor was best known as dapper secret agent John Steed in the long-running television series. …

Always liked his characterization of the quintessential (old school) Brit.

He was a bit of a squish but seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

He was also the young Jacob Marley in the 1951 verson of “Scrooge” with Alister Sim.

Just read that he served in the Royal Navy during World War II.

I also remember him playing the captain of a cruise ship in an episode of Columbo.
