I started drinking diet pop after I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

I drink flavored club soda. No sweeteners. The flavor is very faint but enough that it is better than unflavored. Diet soda wreaks havoc on my bladder. I will drink maybe one or two a week.

Bourbon is another story altogether.

people think we fatsos drink diet coke to diet. I drink it because I love soda and regular just curls your tongue with sugar.
I’m 47 and if I don’t lose a lot of weight I will drop one day like a fly, but for some reason I don’t have diabetes.

they should study why that is that certain people don’t get it. seems to me all bodies work the same.

In simplest terms, the body uses sugar as a direct source of immediate energy.

When one supplies the body with artificial sweeteners, the body tries to use them as ‘fuel’.

They don’t burn ‘cleanly’ like sugar does, and end up gumming up the works.

I'm a diet pepsi hard core drinker....but I've tried to switch up and drink unflavored sparkling water....pretty satisfying....

in my heart, I know that diet soda is very bad for us...

I'd say since my husband and I have both switched to skim milk and diet soda, we've gained more weight...

Dr Peppers, or Diet Dr Peppers?

Regular, I can see that. Diet, not so much.

From the researchers recent, but not yet published presentation.

Insulin levels were also raised in type II diabetics given sucralose and ascesulfame-K. Mice given the artificial sweeteners aspartame and erythritol showed increased insulin levels and insulin resistance, which was believed to be due to increased plasma triglycerides. By contrast, the natural sweetener stevia lowered insulin levels in obese subjects who showed increased insulin following aspartame and sucrose consumption.

The deal is to drink a regular soda with a lot of ice. It tastes ice cold and it gets watered down a bit so it isn’t so sweet.

Also note that not every soft drink has the same amount of sugar in them. Some have less and you can see it on the calories.

I don’t drink diet pop but I do like candy. Actually I love candy. Most people have some eating vice. It is the big picture that matters.

I used to think 47 was old.

“they should study why that is that certain people don’t get it. seems to me all bodies work the same.”

Any doctor worth his salt will be honest with you and tell you that most medical problems that humans face are rooted in genetics.

People whose intake of sugars is low. They may get diabetes. People who gorge on sugar who never get diabetes.

People who smoke never get lung cancer. People who have never smoked get lung cancer.

It is all because of genes.

I drink plenty of diet coke. Did before and during my recent loss of 30 lbs. Cutting carbs, increasing fat and then adjusting portion sizes to reduce total calories taken in worked fine.

If diet coke made people gain weight, I’d weigh 400 lbs instead of 155.

“Two fried chickens and a (diet?) Coke”.

Some honkeys prefer white bread toast, dry, with nothin' on it.

Diet Coke with Splenda is good with a hamburger.

put down the can and cool down with an unsweetened iced tea instead.

I take it one step further: unsweetened tea mixed with soda water. Fizzy iced tea!

The jury is still out, according to my wife (the skeptic).

I sometimes drink diet sodas, but stay away from hi-carb stuff like pizza.

I do drink a little diet soda, but my drink of choice is unsweetened ice tea.

My ex-daughter-in-law who is a Ph. D. in Chemistry tells me that aspartame is a very small protein that is not even digested by the body.

As Lewis Black said in one of his shows, no one knows what a good diet or bad diet is. What you eat might kill the guy next to you.

Moderation is the key.

Yeah, but they're on a mission from God, so that makes it ok.
