Erasers are an instrument of the devil and should be banned from classrooms, an education expert has warned.
Guy Claxton, visiting professor of learning sciences at Kings College London, said rubbers wrongly encourage children to feel ashamed of their mistakes.
Youngsters need to be unafraid of making errors, to recognise and learn from them, the cognitive scientist added.
The eraser is an instrument of the devil because it perpetuates a culture of shame about error, he told the Daily Telegraph. Its a way of lying to the world, which says, I didnt make a mistake. I got it right first time. Thats what happens when you can rub it out and replace it.

please tell me this is satire
he believes in “De Debbil”?
LOL!
If we’re going to ban erasers from the classrooms because they make people think ‘they got it right the first time, can we finally ban abortion?
Is this the same ass-hat who thinks reading to your children gives them an unfair advantage, or is it some other ass-hat?
If he thinks erasers are evil, I wonder what he thinks of white-out privilege.
If you can’t erase your mistake, it is there forever to remind you of your error . . . kinda like DemocRATS.
Political correctness has progressed to terminal.
Pound sand, cognitive scientist
No, this is absolutely typical German mentality to mandate the eraser and use of it.
Go and look on any desk of a German employee....either a full-up eraser in view, or white-out (which they buy in bulk form).
I’m taking a German language class (this is for adults), which started this week. I’m the only American in the room...and I’ve already noted the eraser mentality on five occasions so far this week.
Me? I just take the pen....strike through the problem or issue and continue on. I think this mentality thing is mostly about having everything written as an important document, and being kept or on record....for years and years.
idiot....the eraser gives you a second chance. It also corrects the computer in your brain. It’s how we learn.
Some people just need a good whuppin’.
Tell that to Hillary and her use of email and servers.
I wonder how many times he backspaced, cut, deleted, corrected, used spellchecker, etc. etc. on his computer while he wrote this drivel?
Its OK for him to provide a polished finished product, but not our children?
These people are nutz.
“said rubbers wrongly encourage children to feel ashamed of their mistakes.”
There’s a joke in there somewhere I just can’t quite put my finger on it.
All kidding aside, is this where we are? Militant islamo terrorists want to take over the world and this idgit is worried about erasers on a pencils? Wow, out of touch doesn’t even begin to explain where this guy’s head is at.
Next, bet rid of the delete, backspace and undo keys on computers.
*ouch*
They are taking over Britain, and yes, they see them for what they are, just as we do, which is why it’s so easy.
Claxton speaks only to justify his existence, in the same way politicians in DC crank out superfluous laws to appear busy and useful, when they are neither.
