Why do girls have a right to genital integrity, but not boys?
The Libertarian Republic ^ | May 26, 2015 | Austin Petersen

The mother of a four-year-old son, Heather Hironimus, tearfully signed an order allowing for the circumcision of her boy, so that she could be released from prison. The event has stirred a national debate about the necessity of circumcision, and the question of whether all children should be allowed the right to bodily integrity.

Hironimus was imprisoned after she fled with her son, attempting to avoid the fulfillment of an agreement with the boy’s father that would see him circumcised. She’s now taken center stage on the issue, with anti-circumcision activists rallying to her cause, raising $50,000 in legal bills to defend her son, Chase Hironimus. The father wishes to circumcise the boy so that he looks like him.

Yes, because the Republican Party is so noble and stands for so much of what is good.

Hardly. The biggest problem with it is that it has too many Liberal-tarians in it.

When my daughter had her sons she wasn’t going to circumcise them because her husband was not circumcised. The problem was even though the doctor told them to just keep pulling the skin back (which they tried) it kept growing over the end and was so tight it hurt him and he bled every time they tried. Finally at 2-3 yrs. she had him circumcised and yes he was hurting terribly for several days. It is best to have it done at birth.

You don’t even know what my opinion is.

And for that I am thankful. Once you identified yourself as a Libertarian, my regard for your opinion reached epic proportions of ennui.

“The mother of a four-year-old son, Heather Hironimus”

I don’t think it is correct. Should be

“Heather Hironimus, the mother of a four-year-old son,”

Edmund Burke and Adam Smith were not just contemporaries and countrymen, they were good personal friends. Adam Smith gave us conservative economic theory, and Edmund Burke gave us conservative social theory.

They discussed their ideas with each other because their philosophies are inextricably intertwined. Adam Smith cites examples of immoral economic behavior (Monopolies, Cartels, etc.)

Economics cannot exist outside of a moral philosophy which underpins it. If theft isn't immoral, then how can you protect assets or property?

Yes, because the Republican Party is so noble and stands for so much of what is good.

Snark is noted. Like myself, many FRiends here refuse to identify as a "Republican", as that party is rife with losers carrying the water and otherwise enabling their socialist opponents. They are ALL Hellbent on destroying The Republic.

“circumcision lessens risk for a number of disorders”

“Disorders”? Please list!

“...lessens risk”? How so?

The burden of proof isn't on me. Sorry, no cigar.

Cutting off the entire head of the penis vs Female circumcision would be apples to apples.

That hurts even to think about it...

The woman kidnapped the kid, broke her contract.

I beg to differ Charles, You stated that something was a fact. Equaviator asked for the supporting evidence.

If you state something then the burden of proving it is most definitely upon you.

Interestingly enough, Vitamin K levels (Vitamin K along with calcium is needed to convert prothrombin to its derivative thrombin, which is the enzyme that is the final catalyst to blood clotting) spike to 110% (the highest they will ever be in a lifetime) 8 days after birth, precisely when God told Abraham to have a baby circumcised. Funny how that whole God/science dynamic works...

I thought this whole ‘don’t circumcise’ issue was just a gay fetish thing, now it’s become a big liberal issue.

In a way thing you are on to something

Circumcision is an covenant used as means to set Gods people aside and separate...

All other people were considered pagans and foreign to God...

Genesis 17:10–14 - 10 This is My covenant which you shall keep, between Me and you and your descendants after you: Every male child among you shall be circumcised; 11 and you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be ta sign of the covenant between Me and you. 12 He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant. 13 He who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money must be circumcised, and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. 14 And the uncircumcised male child, who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

I shudder to think of the psychological effects of: a) Mom or Dad repeatedly touching their son's penis to do this; b) the pain associated with another person touching your penis; and c) Mom or Dad hurting you - repeatedly.

Your D-I-L didn't really think this through, did she?
