"Bush is mesmerized by a common grocery store checkout scanner in 1992. This was LONG after scanners were introduced in 1980. "Some say" this is an "urban legend," but you decide. Sorry, source file was only 160x120, not too sharp."

Please read my post carefully; I did not say Reagan called Bush a “moron”.

(Though HW Bush told Gorbachev that “the conservatives who voted for Reagan were morons” — I think the translation in 1988 was “numbskulls” when Gorbie was quoting what Bush had told him about Reagan and Reagan’s conservative voter base)

I thought Freepers decided you were a Rove troll months ago.

Why are Hollywood Libs defending HW Bush?

Because Cankles hasn’t driven her own car in 30 years. Let alone shopped or cooked for herself.

Gotta be careful not to criticize the Clintons when the Bushes are around: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2836935/He-s-brother-mother-George-W-Bush-gushes-unlikely-pal-Bill-Clinton-ousted-father-Oval-Office.html

I don’t think the video shows the-man-whom-Reagan-hated as being “a moron”; this is the same

You are a lying troll, you seem to be lying about everything, Reagan, Bush, and it was especially bizarre to try and connect me with anything to do with Rove.

Something is wrong with you son, very wrong, like off your meds wrong.

The media edited that part out to show him as an elitist snob.

The Media deliberately threw that election to Bill Clinton. I watched it happen. I cannot remember how many utterly biased stories were put on the air about George HW Bush, and how the media fell all over themselves covering up the nasty things that kept coming out about Bill Clinton. They spent nearly a year running down the economy as we headed into that election. Every day they would run stories about how terrible was the economy, complete with video of shuttered factories and people standing in unemployment lines. Utterly f***ing biased.

1992 was the year I learned that the Greatest threat to our lives and Freedom was that New York originated Media companies staffed by nothing but Liberal propaganda agents who wanted to steer elections.

These people also threw the election to Obama with the same sort of biased coverage and reporting.

The existing media needs to be destroyed and scattered. We need objective people in those positions of influence, not the liberal hacks that currently work there.

HW Bush chummied up to (ex-KGB) Gorbachev when he trash-talked Reagan to him, so W's chumminess with (ex-KGB) Putin seems like some Bush tradition or something.

Gorbachev: “By the way, in 1987, after my first visit to the United States, Vice President Bush accompanied me to the airport, and told me: “Reagan is a conservative. An extreme conservative. All the blockheads and dummies are for him, and when he says that something is necessary, they trust him. But if some Democrat had proposed what Reagan did, with you, they might not have trusted him.”

Watch the personal attacks; some of us figured out you were trolling conservatives on FR long ago.

Not going to feed it.

But that is not what is recorded in the video. The milk carton isn’t torn,

Obviously the carton isn't torn, but you can't tell whether or not the UPC is gashed or obscured. The video is simply too poor to make such a claim as you are making.

and Bush waves his hand over the glass scanner in amazement at the technology, not at its ability to read torn labels.

Again, that is a fact not in evidence. Look, I DETESTED George HW Bush. He is a big part of why things are so screwed up. He wouldn't fight the Democrats. He broke his word on taxes. He appointed a lot of Horrible Judges. He utterly wasted Reagan's legacy.

But it occurs to me they wouldn't likely be showing ten year old scanner technology at a grocery store trade show. What would be the point of that? Whether or not George HW Bush has seen it or not is irrelevant to the fact that EVERYONE ELSE IN THAT INDUSTRY HAD.

If it wasn't new, why bring it to the trade show?

I was there, too. I also remember the story about Bush having a mistress on the side; weird how that meme was lost in the memory hole but this scanner meme hasn’t died.

(Funny with Stephanopolis in the news right now how important he was to the ‘92 election.)

Bush was simply not conservative enough — after he failed to “finish the war” by deferring to the UN on Saddam; after he made such stupid speeches hailing the NWO/UN — for him to live out the promise of “Reagan’s Fourth Term”.

He only won in ‘88 because we wanted Reagan for another four years.

Really? I asked a question about why libs in Hollywood were defending Bush 21 years later and you are questioning my motives?

Are you a conservative?

I realize labels like “stupid” are the weapon of choice for the Democrat Party so we have Reagan, GHW Bush, GW Bush, Quail, Palin, and now I guess Walker ,Ted Cruz and God knows who all contending with this absurdity. It is fairly well know that the “most stupid” president was GW Bush (according to the comedians and pundits)But if one paid attention Karl Rove was having a race with him to see who could read the most books.( mainly history) Has anyone asked Barack what he has read lately? If so, I haven’t seen it.

Eisenhower was an affable old fool, and Nixon was a shifty crook. The media have constantly been portraying Republicans as either dumb or evil and they get away with it because they own all the transmitters and microphones.

It is long past time for our movement to take those transmitters and microphones away from them and use them ourselves.

If any president needs to be labeled a class one idiot, it is the current one.

It’s just as weird as when HBO premiered GAME CHANGE in March of 2012 and then in May of that same year, premiered a loving documentary of HW Bush.

I personally feel that were it not for Milquetoast Rino George HW Bush's fecklessness, much of what is wrong with our nation today, would not have occurred.

George HW Bush breaking that "read my lips... no new taxes!" promise, is the sole factor that elected Bill Clinton. Had he never broke that promise, he would have been elected to a second term, and all those horrible Clinton appointees and policies would never have occurred.

Thanks HW. We really needed you to come along and f*** everything up.

Feel free to continue living the delusion that a man who was a naval aviator, congressman, CIA director, VP and POTUS can be a stupid moron.

He wasn't stupid, but he sure was out of touch and deluded. He never grasped the fact that the DEMOCRATS WERE HIS ENEMIES! He always tried to play nice with them, and for their part they couldn't wait to stab him in the back.

They succeeded when they suckered him into breaking his tax pledge. They never kept their end of the bargain, and the sole effect of it was to get Bill Clinton elected. It was a master stroke by the Democrats, but wouldn't have worked on anyone half way paying attention to politics.

George HW was really really really out of touch.

Here is a better video.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/features/bonus-video/presidents-age-bush/

That video confirms that it was at a grocers convention and that it was a scanner which was designed to read "shredded" bar codes. It also points out that it was the New York Times which asserted that Bush didn't know how an ordinary scanner works.

Once again, it is those F***ing bastards in the Liberal media attempting to manipulate elections by deliberately misleading the American people.

Good post....

And seemingly the scenario keeps repeating over and over....

The libs say something..the Pub's believe it..and the libs lie and do the opposite.

The libs play for keeps...the Pub's just go along to get along. As a friend said to me...they are just "sit and soaks"
