A Las Vegas high school sophomore says school administrators denied her application to form a pro-life club on campus.

West Career and Technical Academy Vice Principal Allan Yee allegedly told Angelique Clark that the club would be “controversial” and would make pro-choice students feel left out.

He also reportedly said that others were “more qualified to speak on the issue than a high school sophomore.” …

not one faculty member will support the group? Good Lord.I will be dropping a phone call to this school asking them wjy this group can’t be formed and exactly who it would harm. It would leave out anti-life people? would pro lifers be welcome to an anti life meeting?

Welcome to the wonderful world of PC Blvd which is a one way street that you’re drivin’ the wrong way on. “They” can offend. YOU, can NOT! Back in line.

I guess it hasn’t occurred to this VP that having a. Pro-choice club makes the pro-life students feel left out? Or he just doesn’t care about that?

Frankly, I don’t think high schools should be starting pro-life clubs, pro-choice clubs, LGBT whatever clubs. These kids need to LEARN in school, not discuss their views on sex. They do that enough after school hours. Yes, I’m hopelessly old-fashioned ... With good reason!

Every club leaves out people who are not part of the club.
That’s part of being in the club.

Most clubs aren’t based on controversial topics. No one cares if there is a Chess club, a drama club etc...

When they start dabbling with high school clubs based on controversial political topics they should expect / allow both sides (or neither side). Cherry picking the side he agrees with politically is unacceptable.

She’s going about this the wrong way.

The first rule of Pro-Life Club is that NOBODY TALKS ABOUT PRO-LIFE CLUB!

Just do it. On your own time and off-campus.

You really think the Campus Communists of old ASKED if they could carry those little cards they supposedly carry? ;)

Black students associations exclude students of other races.
Political clubs routinely block others on the basis of beliefs.
The French club has darn few members, because few are interested.
A pro-life club in most areas would attract at least 10% of the kids, more than some niche clubs already on campus.

Just do it. On your own time and off-campus.

The problem with that is that means you have no formal recognition, which means the school won't fund events or club activities. The club likely can't use school grounds for meetings (or has to pay to do so), while recognized clubs simply have to reserve the room. Also, many clubs meet after school, and in HS many students don't have the same easy transportation like a college student. It's difficult to find the space, time, and organize people to get to other places when the meeting could easily be held after school in a classroom, before mom and dad come pick everyone up.

Also, I bet the school has a pro-abortion club, or at least several LGBTKQQWTFBBQ clubs that support abortion.

That is easily solved. All the parents need to do is leave that government school and start HOME SCHOOLING. The more home schooling a community has, the less power these government schools have

A pro-life club would make pro-choicers feel “left out”. Well, duh.

I agree. Any clubs should be academic. Mathletes, debate clubs, etc.

While I’m a huge supporter of home schooling, unfortunately, not every parent is up to the task of homeschooling their children due to various reasons. It all sounds so simple - pull the kids out of public schools and home school them. It isn’t that easy for some.

What other clubs exist on this campus? If they limit clubs to scholastic activities , then the decision is correct. If they have endorsed other clubs that are of social or political nature, then they need to permit this club.

I want to join the BBQ Club!

Of course I know that. Government Education and Government in GENERAL is making us ALL go underground. Eff ‘em. Break as many rules/laws as you can every day!

“These kids need to LEARN in school, not discuss their views on sex. “

Except that they ARE LEARNING that their views are antiquated and wrong. “Learning” is something that happens always.
