Neighbors hate this dog so much they’re leaving mean notes — and traps

They don’t love Lucy!

Residents of a Queens co-op are battling a 10-month-old basset hound named Lucy in a bizarre dogfight that includes nasty notes, suspicious liquids and “booby traps” worthy of an Agatha Christie murder mystery.

“Every time I open that door, I wonder, ‘What’s next?’ ” the beast’s besieged owner, Cory McPherson, told The Post from his Woodside apartment, where he and Lucy now live in fear.

The excerpt missed the point that this dog barks all the time. No wonder they want it gone!!! No where does it suggest the idiot dog owner is even the slightest embarrassed that his dog barks and barks and barks.

A bark collar would work very well in this case.

My rescue Australian Shepherd would be dead by now if not for the bark collar he wears 24/7.

My redbone coonhound barely makes a sound. He will bark on command if my wife allows it. He has a mean bark when the doorbell rings. Otherwise he’s mostly just droping his leash at your feet when he wants to go outside

We have a neighbor that has two yappy dogs. He’ll be out on his deck with the two dogs yapping away and he doesn’t have a care in the world. He probably thinks its cute. Our dog knows better than to bark.

Except he’s figured out that if he rears up and pounces on our deck with his 75 pounds it makes enough noise to get a rise out of the yappy dogs!

Dog lover does not equal responsible pet owner. This guy’s dog barks all day long yet someone else is the a-hole.

As soon as i saw it was a Bassett Hound, the problem became far less mysterious. He’s lucky his neighbors haven’t tried to enter the apartment during Bark Hours, and dangerous something to make the dog permanently quiet.

The photo of the guy shows an arrogant person who does not want to be a good neighbor.
Poor dog that has to put up with him.

Those basset hounds have a deep, loud bark. But from what I understand, both parties are renters? That means the people who hate the barking could move away from the barking. Not that it's okay for this dog to be barking all day, but if you're to the point of threatening notes and trying to kill the dog, maybe it is time to considering moving -- for sanity's sake.

We once had a couple of schnauzers who were die-hard barkers. Bark collars -- nope. De-barking -- nope. These dogs were gonna BARK. Part of it was our total ignorance of dog training.

Our current dog enjoys a good bark, but she's a pipsqueak. It's obnoxious, but not non-stop. Just when someone is at the front door (good girl) or when a large truck -- like a dump truck -- goes down the street (bad girl). She doesn't even find it necessary to join in when the neighborhood dogs are all out singing the song of their people. So she's not so bad.

Lucy is probably not so bad either, if they tried to find a reason for the non-stop barking. That's not normal for a basset.

“My rescue Australian Shepherd would be dead by now if not for the bark collar he wears 24/7.”

That isn’t typical of the breed. My Aussies rarely bark unless there is good reason to for doing so.

Most renters are under a lease. Violating a lease usually means a stiff financial penalty, sometimes even having to pay the remainder of the rent for the rest of the lease and losing your deposit. So, it's not as simple as "just move."
