MOZILLA has released Firefox 38, bringing the spectre of Digital Rights Management (DRM) to the platform for the first time. The organisation has traditionally shyed away from DRM as it considers the technology something that goes against the openness of the Mozilla platform.
However, Mozilla was forced to admit in May 2014 that taking on DRM was essential to avoid losing ground to rivals by not being able to play streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify.
Andreas Gal, CTO and vice president of mobile for Mozilla, said in a blog post at the time: "While we would much prefer a world and a web without DRM, our users need it to access the content they want."
Windows Vista and later will automatically download the Content Decryption Model (CDM) from Adobe as soon as it is first required by a video or audio stream.
Mozilla has had to acknowledge that the failure of a browser to play video would be "deeply flawed as a consumer product".
"We don't believe DRM is a desirable market solution, but it's currently the only way to watch a sought-after segment of content," said Denelle Dixon-Thayer, who heads business and legal affairs at Mozilla, in a blog post yesterday.

You can attach the same add-ons and apps that FF has from EditThisCookie, AdBlock Plus, No Script Lite, Ip address changer, chat etc. No difference so far.
Doesn’t netflix req. silverlight? That’s always been a showstopper for me.
Linux came with FF. Hmm. But prev versions didn’t stream NF. I had to use google chrome. I know I know. But I had to see if it worked.
Guess I’ll try NF with FF now. It was a bit choppy using GC.
Nope, NF still doesn’t work using Linux and FF.

Seems like whether an IP protection measure being good or bad depends on who’s IP is being protected.
Thread hijack - iCab allows me to save an entire web page with it’s photos into one file. Seem like an obvious thing to do, but I can’t find another browser that will do it into one file. Safari and, I believe, Firefox will save a webpage into a folder. But I think iCab uses stuffit, which is brilliant. Anyway, if anyone knows another browser that does this, please let me know. Thx.
I've printed webpages to PDF format for quite some time. PDFs suck, but for some things can be better than nothing.
