A 4-year-old girl pointed out a hiding burglar in her Antioch home Monday evening after her mother saw the burglar and fled, leaving the little girl inside, police said.
Janae Yaeger's mother, Bliss, was holding her daughter's infant sibling inside the home in the 4900 block of Ridgeview Drive at about 7:45 p.m. when the burglar came into the home through an unlocked door, police said.
The woman fled out the front door with the baby, but left Janae inside, police said. Officers arrived and found the girl at the top of the home's stairs.
Police sent the little girl out to her mother. She told her mother she saw the burglar hide in her bedroom closet, police said. The mother told the officers and they found the suspect hiding in the closet. He refused to come out but after a brief struggle he was arrested and identified as Demaria Lopez, a 21-year-old homeless man, police said.
"Some bad guy broke into my brothers room. Then he went into my room to hide in the closet to hide from police," Janae said, adding she was not scared by the burglar. "I was brave."
But Janae's mom was. It was pretty frightening, just the thought of her with a stranger. It was pretty scary. Anything could happen," she said.
Lopez was booked into jail in Martinez on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest, police said.
No one was injured in the incident, according to police.

Burglar hiding in the closet?Open door, insert Rottweiler.
Janae Yaeger’s mother, Bliss should also be arrested for child endangerment.
Most likely an Obayma supporter.
What was she supposed to do,set the baby down and start fighting the guy?
She was supposed to pick up the .357 mag from her bedroom and blow the a**hole away....
Surely she has a weapon..............
I wasn’t there and shouldn’t be too judgmental but that is why God gave mothers two arms.
Many years from now, Janae will look at her mother with a concerned expression and ask “Mom, why did you run out of the house and leave me with that burglar? Did you forget we just ate lunch together?” . “No Baby!, I never forgot you were there. I was hoping he would follow me outside of the house into the street, where people could see us.”
While everyone should have a gun,you know that there are whiney libs out there that would rather be killed than have one in the house.
Yep...I do know this...They commit to their own peril...
Mother of the year candidate right there.
Maybe the most convoluted sentence of the year

Honest folks, they go to college to learn to write like this.
I lived in Antioch for about fifteen years. I remember when that was farm country, adjacent the drop zone where I used to jump. Sure has changed.
J school
Well gee, what could she have done.....Hmmmm. I know! NOT abandon her small child....maybe take her with her or tell her to run????
Hindsight is always 20/20. People shouldn’t harp on this, though, or it could harm the 4 year old.
She was brave!
Maybe grab the 4 year old by the hand as she was running out the door?
No, they would rather YOU be killed than have one in the house.
One would hope,if the chance presented itself.I’ve always been an advocate of have a capable dog in the house.Let the dog deal with the threat first, buys time to escape or arm yourself.
The problem is,not everyone is as brave or smart as we would hope they would be.
