Was Pamela Geller wrong? (vanity)
May 6, 2015 | me

I've been reading the various criticisms of Pamela Geller's "Draw the Prophet" event in Garland Texas. Many are saying that it was provocative, and insulting. And Geller had to have known a violent response was possible. So it would have been so much better not to have held the event at all.

Then I thought abou the civil rights protestors from back in the early 1960's.

Back in the early 1960's, some black folks deliberately sat at lunch counters labeled for whites only. Those people knew that their actions were provocative, and insulting. And certainly a violent response was possible. Yet those protestors put the concept of freedom above all that.

To those who criticize Geller: Should the lunch counter protestors have backed off too? Because like it or not, the situations are quite similar.

A tip of the hat to Freeper Arm_Bears, whose comment about Rosa Parks got me thinking about all the similarities here.

SHAMEFUL ATTACKS BY THE DHIMMIT MEDIA TO PAMELA GELLER AND GERT WILDERS

The American “Dhimmitude” media, cowed by Islamic violence, has accepted total submission to the mandates of the Islamic terrorists.

Pamela Geller, Gert Wilders, and Bosch Fawstin (the winner of the contest) are real heroes that have not accepted to be intimidated by Islamic terrorists. It is denigrating for the American media to see their pundits attacking the freedom of expression of those opposed to the Islamization of U.S.

On January 17,2015 and in the same public school center, there was a “Stand with the Prophet” rally by Muslims, a provocative pro-Shariah law event, by supporters of Al-Qaida and Isis organized by one of the terrorists implicated in the bombing of the garage of the NY World Trade Center in 1993.

I wonder if those who try to blame the organizers of the “First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest,” for the Muslim terrorist attack would have justified if a patriotic American had irrupted in the Muslim rally on January and made a massacre of Islamic terrorists. After all, Americans are profoundly offended by their provocation and the abuse of our freedoms by those who made the Muslim rally in support of the savages that decapitate, crucify and burned Christians alive.

The “Dhimmitude” media, scared by Islamic violence, auto-censors itself and tries to justify the terrorist attack in Texas because the Mohamed cartoons contest offended the sensibility of Islamic terrorists.

On January 2015, radical Islamists desecrated the holy soil of Texas. Do not mess with Texas!!!

Iranian Commander: We Won’t Rest Until US is an Islamic Republic

Don’t allow Obama and the media fool us, radical Islam officially declared war against U.S. on 9/11/2001.

In Switzerland everybody is drafted and they keep their arms in home in case they need to defend their country. It is imperative that all American arm themselves, the jihadists are already in and can attack any time our churches, malls, theaters, slaughtering innocents men women and children as they are massacring Christians in Africa and the Middle East.

I posted this on another thread too.

What the left doesn't seem to want to realize, is that these Jihadists were going to attack anyway. In their religion, if we don't convert, then we must die. Pam Geller just gave them an easy target. If they hadn't shown up where we were ready for them, they would have attacked some other place, some other time, where we might not have been ready.

Everyone was so up in arms at the Charlie Hebdo killings, with all the Je Suis Charlie and the international awards for journalistic independence and all the rest. What did Geller do that was any different than what Charlie Hebdo did? And why shouldn’t the same people be supporting her right to do it?

What about gay activists who interrupt Catholic Mass or other religious services? They do so knowing precisely that while provocative, it is unlikely to result in their being harmed..

Or Code Pink or Westbury Baptist etc. etc.

I think the lunch counter example is weak. Blacks weren't doing that to annoy white people, but to insist on their right to be treated without discrimination.

Geller's event was a provocation, and of a different order from simply criticizing Islam.

No, she’s not wrong. Regardless what anyone thinks of her methods, she’s one of the few voices out there trying to educate people on exactly what Islamists believe and are willing to do.

If 99% of the media voices hadn’t chosen to submit to the demands of these thugs, Geller’s “stunts” wouldn’t be necessary.

I'm encouraged by the reaction of the Men Seeking Men media.

Not one word of criticism about the "assault rifles" the terrorists were wielding.

I think we've turned a page. The next time some Bible-thumpin', pro-life, right-wing wacko, Sarah Palin worshipper attacks an abortion clinic the media will be more understanding.

Exactly! I applaud her for exposing what this administration and so many liberals are trying to ignore. These jihadis are a real and present danger and their methods are very incidious. If they can intimidate us from exercising our freedoms a little at a time, they’ve won.

This is a VITAL piece of the story that is getting glossed over or given short shrift in most of the reporting.

Everyone was so up in arms at the Charlie Hebdo killingsp> The Washing Post surely was...

Charlie Hebdo stands solidly for free expression. The West must do no less.

Difference between Pam Geller and Rosa Parks is that when Parks incited, baited & taunted savages ... the national media was on her side.— John Nolte (@NolteNC) May 6, 2015

Has any American television drama or major film produced since 9/11 ever depicted Muslim terrorists operating in the US? (I discount any documentary based on actual events.)

All you need do is remember the NY Museums, etc. that celebrated that artist’s “Piss Christ” or the Virgin Mary surrounded by dung, or multiple other provocative insults.

They (the artists and provocateurs) were all largely protected by liberal MSM and Democrats.

Shoe - other foot now. They can deal with it.

Ah yes, she is a “PROVOCATEUR”. According to all these “SPINELESS” purveyors of our NEWS. Let me ask every one of these news dessiminators this question: “WHAT IS THE MOST “PROVOCATIVE” PAPER, EVER WRITTEN”? GIVE UP? It’s the US CONSTITUTION, you dolts. Until that “PIECE OF PAPER” was written, the whole world was at the mercy of every dictator. So, if you want to blame any one, you had better blame our founding fathers, for writing the CONSTITUTION. That “PIECE OF PAPER” gave Mrs Geller the right to do what she did. Just because these pieces of excrement didn’t like what she did, doesn’t give them the right to try and kill her, or stop her.

It is upsetting people that should NOT even be here. Yet we are bringing in more and more of these people who are very easily insulted and easily kill for it when they are.
