Why men refuse to marry: Women complain chaps today won't settle down.
The Daily Mail ^ | April 20, 2015 | Peter Lloyd

A controversial new book argues that the triumph of feminism has meant men are now second-class citizens.

George Clooney, Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne may have all taken the plunge recently — but they are a diminishing band of brothers, for the number of men marrying in the West has plunged in recent decades.

The state of matrimony is not just ailing. It is dying out faster than a mobile phone battery.

According to the Office for National Statistics, marriage in Britain is at its lowest level since 1895. In 2011, there were just 286,634 ceremonies — a 41 per cent free fall from 1972, when 480,285 couples tied the knot.

For an army of women, Mr Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him. And the reason? When it comes to marriage, men are on strike.

Why? Because the rewards are far less than they used to be, while the cost and dangers it presents are far greater.

‘Ultimately, men know there’s a good chance they’ll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and — if it all goes wrong — their family,’ says Dr Helen Smith, a lecturer at the University of Tennessee and author of Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood And The American Dream.

Sex and the City is one small example.

Good example. As is the new show "Girls" on TV. Completely unrealistic.

“God created sex like He created everything else. Mess with His guidance on what it’s for and this is what happens”

And mess with His guidance is what we have surely done. Excoriation is a mild word for what happens to anyone who dares uphold the tenets of the Bible when it comes to women.
Woman was created for man to be a helpmate and to bear children. Many is the woman, since time began, who has found joy and a wonderful life by fulfilling the purpose for which her Creator equipped her. That’s all changed now and the results are sad, to say the least. Unstable homes, institutionalized children, gender uncertainty, and many more of societies ills today can, indeed, be traced back to the women’s movement and their desire to depart from the roles as nurturers, makers of good home environments and most of all Mothers that their Creator intended for them.

While men too have largely abandoned their roles as providers, protectors and heads of households; it’s hard to say which gender reneged first or most. Even modern day Christian women mostly choose not to ponder too much on what Scripture teaches about woman’s place and duties in His plan. Woe to anyone who might suggest that she was created to assist and complement man, to care for the family
and for childbearing. What woman in America wouldn’t bristle at those restrictions on her power to avail herself of those things that Scripture reserves for males?

Excoriation? Bring it on. My observations come from a long life and of contemplating the results of my own efforts to circumvent my Creator’s mandates.

Yeah, I apologize to everyone for that word. I was being facetious and did a lousy job. I meant that feminists would see it as a scheme.
It was actually a beautiful show of self respect and self worth. My parents started dating in 1950. After a number of dates my mother finally said you can kiss me on the cheek lol
In my OWN experiences in my youth (I am 47) I’ve had a first date invite me into her house for sex even though two kids were in the house.
I let a girl use my bathroom when we stopped by my house on a first date and she came out naked lo
One girl initiated sexual contact in a cab on the first date
One girl brought 9 1/2 weeks video over on first date. lol
I could on and on and on and on and on...just wow. Now that i think about it, what a disaster this country is becoming!!! And that was all 20 years ago and from what I’ve heard from my nephews its gotten worse!!

...."and for the most part they have succeed in making a lot of softer men feel that way about themselves which has left these “pajama boys” very confused about their role as men because any aggressiveness that they used to have is gone. They are living longer with their parents, staying longer in college, and delaying any and most responsibility these pajama boys are so confused about who and what they are and lacking the confidence to pursue a woman — Because confidence is so foreign to them. These boys have no clue what being aggressive means. Girls are left wanting and frustrated."

You're exactly right.

I agree with much of what's being said here about females today. It's all true, with the exception being the idea that women are the only ones who get fat. Plenty of men put on a huge belly and a double chin after marrying, too.

But it isn't completely one-sided. Both sexes are screwed up. Women have turned into man-hating harridans, and men have become soft, testosterone-deprived pajama boys.

I feel sorry for decent males AND females looking for a mate these days.

" We both agreed sincerely at the outset that divorce would not even be a possibility: so we're motivated to live in peace and to work things out. "

It's the same with us. We took our time getting to know each other before marriage, so we were both positive we were right for each other when we took those vows. And we knew that divorce would never, ever be an option.

You’re right, but I’ve met some lovers in some unconventional places. In fact, I met my first serious boyfriend at a funeral home. My aunt had passed away, and this guy was a grandson to my uncle from his first marriage. My mother loved him because he was a college graduate and had a good career, Being a college graduate was a big deal in my small, blue collar hometown.

Well, it turned out this guy was an alcoholic and a mean drunk to boot. I didn’t need that aggravation in my life, so I ditched him.

About a year or so later, I saw him on the street. By then he had married, so I congratulated him on his nuptials. He said, “thank you. Do you want to go out sometime?” The guy was fooling around on his new bride. Uh.....no......

Many years later, he was killed in an automobile accident — he was driving drunk. By then he had lost his really good job and was working as a sales representative for a pest control company. I heard he left his wife in debt and alone to raise two young sons.

My mother couldn’t understand why I had let this “good catch” get away. All I can say is I’m glad I did.

People say ‘that’s all changed now’ ‘everything is different now’

But, no. Everything is the same

No matter what the progressive culture does, God is still the author of life. Women’s purpose, men’s purpose is the same

It’s not, as people think, a democratic nor corrupt, disordered system where God will finally get with it and see it differently

That is not going to happen.

So, either the world ends in this mess or it changes back again but it is so far out of order, that our country, the leader, having lost all moral authority, even over itself, with the acceptance of family destroying, fetus and baby killing, sex as recreation, has withdrawn from keeping the bad guys of the world from taking over, and it will bode very poorly for the world

If we right ourselves, and stranger things have happened, history will show, during a better time, that we hired politicians into high office - into the White House- not only who promoted even infant-killing, and the precursor, birth control, but that we hired them BECAUSE of their position promoting sex as recreation (and the resultant destruction of families, lives and gender, human dignity)

History will show this time to be how much worse that’s slavery? Than hitler and the Nazi regime, with their measly 6 million compared to our 55million and hundreds of million victims of birth control?

Things are NOT changing. Women are women, homemakers and child readers, men too, in their role

Either we end or this insanity ends, but this will not sustain itself. It’s out if order

I see both sides of the fence here.

Yes, many young women these days are needy, whiny, demanding and emotional basket cases. Many women see men as a transaction. Get taken out to a nice dinner and a show and then dump him the next day for another guy if determined he's not wealthy or malleable enough for a long term relationship. If he is wealthy and malleable, then quickly sink their claws into him for a payday later.

Good example of this is the girlfriend of recently convicted pro football player - and gangland murderer - Aaron Hernandez. She didn't even wait for him to marry her before she had his child. At the time, she thought she was set for life. She had to know he was a monster but hey, with that $40 million NFL contract and that mansion, she couldn't have that baby with him fast enough in order to grab her half of the goodies.

She probably thought she had it made in the shade. Now's she's destined to raise a baby on her own in poverty because all that money is in the process of being transferred to lawyers and the mansion already has liens from all the lawsuits that will need to get settled.

Well that's one situation where the gamble did not pay off. But usually, it does.

Now let's take a look at the eligible men. A large number of under 30 men are perpetual adolescents who work some dead-end job (usually part time) and still hang with their buddies in their mom's basement, playing video games and behaving as though they are still in junior high. Think Adam Sandler - without the money and charm. That's your typical man today.

These are the cards on the table. Let's hope it's not too late to turn this around.

Marriage is a great deal!

She can sleep around with as many guys as she wants. And if you don’t like it, she gets half your stuff!

Why would a man marry?

To help defend Western civilization.

The homosexuals and their temporary islamist allies are winning.

They are winning. It doesn’t help to defend Western civilization if the wife will divorce you and take everything away from you.

All summed up under the title ‘Dependapotamus’.

I know plenty of women in this category. A good decade or two of bad decisions, and now they’re looking for a Pay Day Husband to financially take care of said bad decisions.

This is really sad. I’ve been married 12 years, have 3 kids, and life is great. I couldn’t imagine not being married, or my kids being raised by a single parent. Yes, I know I’m lucky and found the right partner. She is a great mom and wife. The greatest relationship advice I ever got was to only marry a woman you thought would make a good mother. Basically someone unselfish, patient, and most of all not vain. Can’t stress that enough. Too many men hook up with the “hot” chick at the bar. Million dollar body, 5 cent head. I met my wife at a book store.

Monty that doesn't always happen, maybe not even that much. But what happens, it seems like every day (and I'm a woman) is that women diminish men. Emasculate them emotionally. Bully them.

Not me. I want to build my man up. Partner with him, be led by him.
