Sounds like a typical leftist. I bet she whined the whole time about how things were so much better in England!!

_________

Always, she was in retrospect, an a@@.

She threw away our friendship of over 30 years because I had a Bush bumpersticker on our car when she came for a visit.

In regards to 5 Australia is about the same size as the continental US. Alaska of course is the big difference. China however while similar in size is just a bit smaller than the US. Interestingly now that Russia is no longer the USSR while still the largest country in area in the world if you combined Canada and the US it would just edge out Russia in size now. The old USSR would still have been bigger.

This is a pretty good list. The obesity of Americans vs. Europeans is shocking. After spending two weeks in Europe I got off the airplane upon my return and remarked, “where did all these fat people come from?”

-— The Mom took her with her for all sorts of errands and they finally went to the grocery store. “Where does it come from? What happens when it is all gone? Why aren’t people grabbing things off the shelves?” -—

When my Polish aunt came to visit, she couldn’t believe that the supermarket wasn’t just for show.

She was also amazed by lawns. Every day she took off her shoes to walk around on the lawn.

I went to visit Poland in 1991, shortly after the wall fell. I didn’t see a mowed lawn anywhere, and I traveled to Warsaw and Krakow. It’s impossible to appreciate how GRAY EVERYTHING was without experiencing it firsthand.

I had a friend that was quite high ranking in the military. During the height of the cold war the U.S. had some type of relationship with Russian officials where they would actually spend time together in each others countries(I have no idea why). The Russian official wanted to stop by multiple grocery stores on their first visit.(I think in Maine) After the third grocery store they soon realized that every American had full access to all the food they wanted. Some of the Russian officials would break down in tears.

I think it comes from parts of Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It can be something fierce. Much like southern accents in the southeast. It can vary dramatically.

That’s too bad. Sometimes I think the leftists know their worldview is BS but they refuse to let go of it..and also cut out of their lives anyone who reminds them of their hypocrisy.

No, I’d prefer that no one clicks, they go broke and the web site shuts down. I couldn’t give a rat’s patootie what 15 ASTONISHING things the Euro-weenies find surprising about America.

Remember when web stories only ran to pultiple pages because the HAD TO?

NEVER click through. The only sites that resort to this are the online equivalents of supermarket tabloids anyway. If no one clicks through, they’ll have to relent and find a less-intrusive, less anoying method to pay the rent. And I’d much rather my actions be an annoyance to them than theirs be an annoyance to me.

NEVER click through. NEVER.

I went to grad school with a Norwegian girl. She had no idea about tipping, just that she should, and would leave a dime or a quarter with her meal. We were eating together once when I realized what was happening and explained the system to her. This was in the early 2000s.

She loved two things - we have a lot of snack fods, and she methodically went down the snack aisles while she lived here, buying all types of snacks. The other thing was salad dressing; she loved trying all of the different flavors.

When foreigners do complain about the country they are in and how great it is back home, I always ask then “why are you here?” That usually shuts them up.

Not long ago, when les Québécois were consumed by the language-rights issue, anyone with American plates on his car could always get service in English. Meanwhile, outside of Montréal, Anglophone Canadians never seemed to meet a bilingual Québécois. You needed to speak la belle langue -- and smatterings of high-school French often weren't good enough.
