ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Major League Baseball maintained its grades for its racial and gender hiring practices, while its percentage of African-American players remained only slightly above a study's low set in the 2007 season.
The annual report issued Wednesday by Richard Lapchick's Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at the University of Central Florida gave MLB an A grade in racial hiring and C in gender hiring.

From what I can tell based on prior attempts on these matters, front office staffs should represent the faces of players. Thus, if 80% of players are “minorities” then 80% of executives should be the same.
If that is the theory they possess, then 100% of the front office staffs should be men since women don’t play MLB. Or do they now want baseball teams to set aside positions for women to represent the percentage of females in baseball?
America is cracking because of liberalism and their “forced” beliefs. In any shade, Lapchick is a hypocrite.
I’ll get all up in the air about this after they make the pro basketball teams racially correct. Ho hum
Not that I particularly care one way or the other, but I’ve always wondered why there were no women umpires in MLB. It would seem like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
This professional sport team is composed of individual players who will satisfy our ticket-holders the most competent group who play the game. The support of patrons is revealed in their continuing purchase of gameday tickets. Our hiring practices are justified by this team attaining playoff status. This is known as “merit hiring”.
On the other hand, our executive and administrative employees are hired only according to their ethnicity. We care little for competency and performance as long as we satisfy the government decree for “representation”.
It is a singular honor that our team can point to the front-office and say, “we reflect the over-representation of local racial composition” because, well...rayciss.

One might find it easy to exhibit oneself as a “minority” or “wymyn”.
What must I do to obtain employment while claiming “homosexual” or LGBTQ protection?
I think that the White SoX VP of HR is female. Does that count at “front office”?
Whatever happened to hiring the most qualified person for the job, regardless of the sex or race?
The MLB is probably the most racially diverse sport there is. There are many females in administration and employed in the individual ballparks.
I think every affirmative action hire needs to be told point blank “We are hiring you because you are black. Not because you’re the best candidate, not because you’re competent, not because you are qualified. Only because you’re black.”
How can any self respecting person accept affirmative action jobs?
Its a woman who is in charge of hospitality at Comerica park. If I recall correctly she’s in charge of everything from ticket takers to vendors and information services. She probably makes a nice 6 figure salary and does a fine job.
It doesn’t mean that Al Kaline should be pushed out of his PR position to make some black lesbian feel included.
Where exactly would woman go to gain the kind of experience needed to become GM of a Major League Baseball team?

Major League Baseball may be very diverse racially, but it’s a complete failure when it comes to gender. There is not a single female player on any of the MLB teams. Nor in the minors, for that matter.

I’d like to say Thank you to the White Sox manager for today’s Detroit win. He should have challenged the call at second but didn’t and it left a man in scoring position in the bottom of the 9th in a 1-1 game.
The 9 and 1 record is a pretty respectable start to the season.
