US Senate panel votes for congressional review of Iran deal

Senator Marco Rubio, who announced Monday he is running for president in 2016, withdrew his amendment that would have required Iran to recognize Israel's right to exist.

Some lawmakers warned extraneous elements could upend the bill, and Rubio acknowledged the importance of a securing congressional review of the Iran agreement.

Washington's powerful pro-Israel lobby AIPAC voiced approval of the measure, saying: "Congress should review any agreement to ensure it meets US objectives, and object if it fails to do so."

A final deal, the group said, "must be subjected to the constitutional system of checks and balances that is the bedrock of our democracy."

Obama says he won’t veto, because the deal was already falling apart, and now he can blame Congress, while stating, “it would have worked.”

Typical Communist blame shifting.

“A final deal, the group said, “must be subjected to the constitutional system of checks and balances that is the bedrock of our democracy.”

My understanding is that if Obama submitted a treaty that he wanted to do with Iran or anyone else, if the senate did not vote to approve it with a super majority, then no deal.

I am under the impression that now the senate must vote in a 2/3 majority to defeat any proposed treaty or it becomes law.

Furthermore, that vote to defeat a proposed treaty needs to pass a 60 vote test in order to proceed, so democrats could simply threaten to filibuster, and McConnell would surrender immediately as McConnell always does.

I hope I misunderstood, but such an agreement would explain why democrats support it and hwy Obama wants to sign it. And it would once again demonstrate not only a complete republican cave, but a rewriting of law to enable tyranny.

Someone tell me I misunderstood, please.

The vile traitor Corker sold us out again.

The man needs to be arrested for what he did today.

He must be blackmailed or owned by the Iranians himself.

He gave them the bomb and the freedom to destroy the Middle east.

Mark Levin explained this same analysis on his show today.
Corker threw the Constitution away and negated treaty approval by the Senate.

This opens the door to arms control by the UN to supercede 2nd Amendment.

Yep.

And McConnell can’t beat a filibuster, which not only do I not think he can, I don’t think he even wants to, he will then need to whip 67 votes or that treaty or any other treaty will simply become law.

The GOP aren’t cowards.

They are willing accomplices.

The GOP is nothing short of extremely dangerous.

Maybe some Chicago-thugs got a message through to Corker via the carjacking of his daughter back in 2009 :

Mark Levin EXPOSES how US Senate just GUTTED constitutional treaty power and GAVE IT TO OBAMA

Posted by The Right Scoop on Apr 14, 2015 at 6:51 PM in

Mark Levin exposes the treachery in the US Senate today, who he says just capitulated completely to Obama by gutting their own constitutional duty to approve treaties, giving it solely to Obama. So in short, Obama can make a treaty with the Islamo-Nazis in Iran without submitting it to the Senate and the Senate can only stop it if they can get enough nays to vote against it.

Levin explains below:
