Thanks very much, Brother - I remember that one more than any other from that time.

This was on my wife's FB page and I look into a different mirror now than the one I looked into in '65,6 and 7
getting back to CONUSn (I was in Korea, it ain't right for me to say "back to the world") was a visual and audio shock.

For us it was "Detroit City" by Bobby Bare ...
Last night I went to sleep in Detroit city,
And I dreamed about those cotton fields and home,
I dreamed about my mother,
dear old papa, sister and brother,
And I dreamed about that girl,
whose been waitin' for so long,
I want to go home, I want to go home,
Oh Lord, I want to go home,
We instinctively knew we couldn't sing "The Anthem"

I loved that song when I was a young-un.
I sang it so much that my mom yelled at me. I guess she thought I was going to turn into a honkey-tonk blues singer. True story. I was about seven, so that would have been in 1962.

Wow, that sure brought back memories and emotions. I remember looking around at my high school graduation class and realizing that each boy might go to Vietnam (the draft), Girls never had anything like that moment in their lives but Feminism still thinks guys have it easy. What a jumble of thoughts...

I cringe a little when I hear about the “Greatest Generation”. I would never disparage them but those who went to Nam served just as honorably and got far less gratitude for it.

That was a great Video. I remember a lot of hill top Ammo deliveries, not with a ch-47 but a CH-54.
