Terrible storms in Tulsa
Well you folks are accustomed to how these things that’s for sure. I only saw really black rimmed clouds forming once while in Ohio...traveling low and really fast....I was just leaving an outdoor concert to the parking lot. By the time I got home, not many blocks away, it poured in sheets with hail like crazy and for quite some time. That was enough to put me on edge !
Still...very glad you’re safe and sound!
saying prayers for your daughter and family and you......I know the felling when you want to reach a loved one
Thank you. I did finally get in touch with her. Sure enough, they were all in their safe room but this particular time they didn’t need it.
Still better to be safe than sorry.
“Huh, they had a Satanic Mass in Oklahoma last year now this...”
There were more Christians outside the building than inside. And those outside were praying.
The storms have probably long past by the time I post this, but I hope everyone in the affected area is safe and sound tonight.
Of course!
Berryville is a great little town. It has a free public shooting range.
Is that Sand Springs?
Best of health and safety to you! What a night and the season is just beginning. You take care. Keep the cellar door open. God bless.
It was supposed to be, but it turned out to be a fake picture.
Thanks ... I guess we’re finished with this one ... :-) ...
That's nothing. Sometimes I like to throw myself into tornadoes just for fun. I headbutt the hail and use the broken up bits to ice my martinis. Stirred, not shaken, because of the spinning tornado you see.
I’ve never been there, but feel an affinity to the area. My folks filled the hills. Do you live in the area?
My brother does.
Wow. I was stationed at Altus AFB in ‘82 when it got hit by a tornado. We had golf ball sized hail for about 45 minutes before it dropped down and that was enough to turn parking lots into junk yards. Also did a number on roofs - it was common practice (probably still is) to just shingle over after a bad hail. Up to 3 layers of shingles before it was time to yank it off and start fresh.
I remember the one that hit Tulsa back in May 1971. It was a Wednesday night and trees were blown down everywhere. The University Tower lost part of it’s roof and window glass from it was all over the area including where I lived just north of Veteran’s Park.
The High School was having their graduation at the Civic Center downtown when it hit just as the ceremony was over. There was to be a second graduation after the first one, but all those people in the underground parking area refused to leave, and those outside wanted into the underground areas. What a mess!
I was lucky to be living in a basement apartment and the entire building filled up my rooms and stairwell area.
My sister said that apartment was the ONLY one she ever lived in that she felt safe from tornadoes.
Then I also missed the Dec 5, 1975 tornado which tore up part of East Tulsa where we were then living.
